Kraftin' Kimmie Challenges #326 PINK! {Fairy Loved} - Happy birthday to me!!

Hello friends!
Happy Weekend to you!
Do you have any special plans?
Today is my 51st birthday so I'm going to do
whatever I want - LOL!
I was at the physical therapist office yesterday
and had to fill out new paperwork. Why is it that your
body starts to fall apart after 40?  Anyway...one of the questions
was my age.  As I wrote 50 down I realized that that would
probably be the last time I would write that age.
Somehow 51 seems a lot older to me today than
50 did yesterday - but I shall still celebrate that because
I'm above ground and healthy (for the most part) and have
lots of friends and family in my life that I love so much!

Okay enough about age... that gets to be an OLD subject (haha)
let's get to my DT card today for the new weekly challenge
at KRAFTIN' KIMMIE Challenges.
This week's challenge is a color challenge
and the color is PINK!!

Well...that one is right up my alley as it is my very
favorite color and one I love to use on my cards.
So I quickly inked up the most adorable little stamp
from last month's new release called "Fairy Loved"
and made this sweet little card - take a look:
(Psst...there's a special sale going on "While Kimmie's
Away" and you could snag this adorable stamp set for
20% off this weekend.  But Shhhh....it's a secret wink wink).
How's that for lots of pink??? I love Doodlebug papers
and have quite a large stash of them.  I can always find
a way to use these papers it seems.  I'm not sure if you can
see the glitter on her wings (wink of Stella) but it
is really sweet IRL.  Doesn't that kitty look content?
I used the April sketch at Kraftin Kimmie as my design
inspiration (just flipped it a bit and used a square instead of circle).

In addition to the great Krafty Challenges & Wonderful Wednesday,
each month KK Challenges include a special sketch.
The sketch will last all month long and if you use it
in ANY of our Challenges or WW's during that month you will get
an additional chance to win a store gift card!
You do NOT have to use the sketch, it's just a little extra boost
for your mojo if ya need it!

Have you seen Kimmie's latest BRILLIANT idea?!?!?
It's a SURPRISE KRAFTY GUEST KIT!
Click on over and read all of the yummy, fabulous deets
and then get your order in!!  Pre-order deadline is April 15th!

And it's just 4 more sleeps until the April peeks start!
I don't want to give away too much but I can
promise you that it's another fabulous release
and I think you are gonna love all the new stamp sets!!

I'd like to enter my card above in the following challenges:
Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenges #272 - Anything Goes
The Outlawz Challenges - Twisted Thursday Anything Goes
w/twist "anything with wings"
Crafting from the Heart Challenges #106  Anything Goes

Thanks so much for stopping in to visit me today!
I hope you have the most fabulous weekend
and find some time to get krafty and join the PINK
challenge this week! Til next time...hugs! D

Happiness is Handmade - Deedee's Digis

Hello friends! It's almost Friday and I'm doing the happy dance - yahoo!
I joined a gym recently and decided to make the investment in a few sessions
with a personal trainer to help me get on track
(who am I kidding...someone to keep me accountable).
I went the past two days and today I AM FEELING IT!
I told him that he needed to take it easy on me 'cause I'm old - but he just laughed at me.
It wasn't just any laugh...it was a very evil laugh.
I'm tasked with going to do my program on my own tomorrow and report to him how I
did when we get together on Tuesday again. Good gracious...what WAS I thinking?

Anyway...I flexed my creative muscles a few days back
and made this card to share with you today.
I'm in a square card mode again (I seem to do that in spurts). This one is 5 1/2" square.
Take a look:
Digital image by Deedee's Digis - "Handmade Happiness"

Isn't this just about the cutest little mouse you ever saw?
I just love this because it so captures why I make cards.
I do believe that handmade cards bring the recipient happiness.
Usually each card contains a little bit of love too - don't you agree?
I'm sending this card to a special lady who I know will appreciate it.

This is one of the Newest Releases in Deedee's Digital Shop.
It comes with a couple other cute sentiments and papers too.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:
Feeling Crafty Challenge #28 - One for the Girls/ladies
Ruby's Rainbow Challenge #82 "Stamping" (digital or rubber)

Thanks for stopping in to visit me today.  I'm off to soak my sore muscles in a hot tub.
Til next time friends...hugs and happy crafting! D

Hello friends!  ATSM Challenge #100 marks the 2nd year of Addicted to Stamps and More!
Whoo Hoo!!
Thank you to our amazing leader Kylie who keeps it all fresh and fun for her DT team :o)

We've had so much fun inspiring you each week and seeing your amazing creations.
How very blessed we are that you continue to support us and play along in our challenges.

Take a look at the gorgeous Photo Inspiration we have for ATSM Challenge #100

So many possibilities with this one... rainbows, rain, umbrellas, summer, bright colors!

and they have generously provided our DT with some images to use for this challenge.

I made two cards this week to inspire you - take a look!
Sponsor image - BB Kakes  "Rainy Days"

I decided to make this a birthday card in celebration of ATSM's 2nd Birthday.
I used a combo of Stampin Up! new blendabilities markers
(coastal cabana, old olive, daffodil delight)
and copic markers (BG 10, R20, RV02, RV06, W0, W2, W4, N6).
Check out that paper - isn't it a great compliment to this image :o) LOVE it!

I'm entering this card in the following challenges:
Crafting from the Heart - Challenge #23 "Anything Goes"
Sentimental Sundays - Challenge #211 "Animals"

And now for my second card:
Sponsor image - Stitchy Stamps "Flip Flops"

I'm especially excited about how this card turned out.
Not only did I manage to do a fairly good job on coloring suntan skin,
but I also colored a beach scene.  Please forgive me if it seems that I'm
bragging - I'm just so excited, I can't help myself :o)

If you'd like to learn how to color a beach scene,
There's a great photo tutorial on the Kraftin' Kimmie Challenge Blog
by Krafty Girl Deborah who shows us how to color a beach scene.
Go check out Krafty Tips & Tuts - Week #19 to learn how.

I'm entering this card in the following challenges:
Crafty Girls Challenge #20 -Anything Goes
Fusion (the bright colors and flowers were my inspiration)

Love to Create Challenge Blog - Challenge #120 - Anything goes
613 Avenue Create - Challenge #76 - "Anything Goes w/ optional twist (no twist for me)

The rest of the talented team at ATSM have made some gorgeous
cards to further inspire you to join our birthday celebration.

I hope to see your crafty creations in our gallery this week!
Please say "hi" while you're there too - we love to hear from you :o).

52CCT - March Stash Challenge - Paper Flowers

Hello friends and followers!
Time for another weekly challenge at 52CCT.
This time it's a stash challenge
and our DT hostess Patricia
wants us to use paper flowers.

Here's my DT card:

This card is made almost entirely from parts and  pieces of my stash.
The flowers (large and small) and light green squares were from  previous ideas that didn't materialize.
I decided to make a quilt looking pattern.
Probably the closest I'll ever come to making a quilt
with my very limited sewing ability :o).
After putting the pieces all together I added some lovely buttons
and a few candy dots and viola - it was done.

Oh boy does it feel good to have used up some of my bits and pieces!
I hope that you will shop your stash and play along this week at
52CCT March Stash Challenge - Paper Flowers.

My lovely 52CCT DT buddies have made some gorgeous
Christmas creations using paper flowers.
I'm also delighted to tell you the we still have our March Guest Designer, Scraplady, with us.
Please go visit the 52CCT DT and say "hi".

Thanks so much for stopping by!
Til next time...hugs and happy crafting! D

Snow...Lots of Laundry, Cleaning & a little bit of Crafting

Hello friends - the title of today's post about sums up my weekend.  Woke up Saturday morning to quite a bit of snow and it came down off and on all day.  I took advantage of the chilly weather to stay inside and clean my house and craft room as well as get a boatload of laundry done (I won't embarrass myself by telling you  just how many loads I had to do).  With all the hours I've been working lately my house and laundry have become seriously neglected.  Darling husband tries to help out - but let's just say that his standards are not quite the same as mine and he didn't do any of my work laundry or delicates :o).

Today more snow and cold so I picked up and organized my craft room and made a couple cards to share with you today. I'm also trying to finish up my valentine's so maybe I'll be back a couple times today with more to share - crossing my fingers :o)

Card #1: I started this card about a week ago but finally got around to finishing it.
No particular person in mind yet for this card - just for my stash.  Finished card size is 5 1/2" square.
Here it is - hope you like it!
I'm entering this card in the following challenges:
The Alphabet Challenge - Z for zesty colours.
They want to see orange, lime and lemon colors.
Orange is one of my favorite "happy" colors, so I couldn't resist.

My Time to Craft Challenge #234 - Buttons & Bows (use at least 3 buttons and a bow)

and Papertake Weekly Challenge - Anything Goes (optional shaped card).

Card #2: While I was cleaning out my craft room I came across a big stack of magazine pages that I had torn out of card and scrapbooking magazines with photos of layouts or cards I really liked.
This is a direct and unabashed CASE of a card shown in an advertisement for Doodlebug Designs on the back page of the Feb 2011 Creating Keepsakes magazine.
My flowers are different shaped and I used a different sentiment to make it my own.
Really love how this one turned out. Take a look:
Can you see why I saved this?  Just way too sweet and a great way to use up a stash of buttons.  It says "thinking of you" but I think I'll use it for a valentine card since the colors are just perfect for that.  Might be fun to try with hearts and buttons instead of flowers. Hmmm... might have to see if I can try that next.

I'm entering Card #2 in Sweet Stampin' Challenge "Sentiments Only"

That's it for now. Thanks so much for stopping by to visit me today. Til next time...hugs and happy crafting! D

ATSM Challenge #81 - Anything Goes

Hello friends, hope this post finds each and every one of you healthy,  happy and in a good crafty space :o)  I am so excited to see that I have two new followers - yahoo! Welcome and thanks for adding my little blog.  Since this is my anniversary month (3 years) I'm planning to offer some blog candy for the first time.  So stay tuned as it will be announced soon (I'm so excited to share it with you!).

Our challenge for you this week at Addicted to Stamps and More! ATSM#81 is the ever popular ANYTHING GOES.  Dawn from LilyPink Scraps is our very special guest designer this week  - Welcome Dawn!  Please go visit her and say "hi".

Our wonderful sponsor for this week is....
My DT card this week uses one of our sponsors images called Little Bear Spring Bonnet  and it is just too cute for words - take a look please:
I haven't made a shabby chic/vintage style card in a while so I thought it would be fun to do so with this image.  I paper pieced her dress and hat.  Important lesson to remember when you are coloring with alcohol markers - color first then paper piece.  The DP I used is much more porous than the cardstock and I got a few areas of bleed over ink that I wasn't expecting.  Mistakes are sometimes part of the crafty process - right?  So I thought I'd pass that little tidbit of info on to you (I'll bet most of you knew that already didn't ya?).   The finished card is 5 1/2" square and will still fit nicely into a 6" envelope even with the lace peeping over the edge. I had a lot of fun with the distressing process on this card - I think that's why I like this style.
Thanks so much for stopping by to visit me today, I hope you enjoyed this card! I'd encourage you to pop on over to the challenge blog and see what the rest of the DT ladies have made for your inspiration (just click here to get there). While you're at it, leave them a little love too - we LOVE to hear from you. :o)  Hope you will decide to play along this week with us - remember Anything Goes!
I'm entering my card in the following challenges:
Divas by Design - Vintage with Lace
4 Crafty Chicks Challenge #179 (4CCC179) - Anything Goes
Sentimental Sundays #192 - Birthday cards for a Special Woman, Using Pastel colors
Til next time dear friends and followers...hugs and happy crafting! D

ATSM #61 - Anything Goes {PaperNest Dolls Sponsor} & Seize the Birthday "Anything Goes"

Hello dear friends and followers - so happy that you've stopped by to visit me today! Can you believe it's September already?  Just a couple days ago it was still 90 plus degrees here - August wasn't giving up without a fight for sure.  I have noticed that the mornings are now crisp and cool so I'm sure that Fall is definitely upon us.  I LOVE Summer, but must admit that Fall is my second favorite season and I am ready for it to be here now. It's much nicer to sleep at night with the windows open - ahhhhh, so lovely.

So...back to the reason you came to visit me.  This week at Addicted to Stamps and More! Challenge #61 is our ever popular ANYTHING GOES!  That's right - any theme, any color, any layout, any occasion or reason - a card, a 3D project, a scrapbook page that you've stamped on or created digitally - Anything Goes!  We also have a new sponsor for the month of September - The Paper Nest Dolls - who is offering a very nice prize (check out the challenge site HERE to get more details).
paper nest dolls blog
I have a card that I made for my Aunt using a darling Paper Nest Dolls image (colored with copic markers) for my DT contribution to ATSM#61 Anything Goes.  I'm also entering this card in the Seize the Birthday "Anything Goes" challenge.  Drum roll please....

Okay - so it might seem as if this card was made for a kid, but my Aunt actually loves clowns and she's still a big giggly kid at heart - so I think she will like it.  One of my new purchases in the Archivers Store in the Mall of America (first time I had ever been there, or to an Archivers store) was some Stickles glitter glue.  This stuff is so much fun!! Wish I had bought a few more colors. I added a glimmer red dot from Close to My Heart on the clown's nose that fit just perfectly.  The papers are some retired DSP from my Stampin Up stash (I knew someday I'd have the perfect reason to use them again).  Usually I do pick my papers first but this time I just started coloring. If I had picked out the papers before I colored the image I would have colored the coat blue and the balloon red.  The sentiments on the front and inside are both from Stampin Up! I especially love the one on the inside - take a look:
Well that's enough from me today.  I'm sure that you would like to go see what the other lovely ladies on the ATSM design team have made for your inspiration - they are awesome as usual.  I hope to see your entry in our challenge this week - so go get crafty!  Til next time... hugs and happy crafting. D

Dynamic Duos #15 - Subtle Color Combo and Pals Paper Arts (PPA 141) Sketch

Hello friends - Happy Thursday to each of you!  I'm not totally in love with the way this card turned out today - but since I spent quite a bit of time making it, I decided I will share it with you anyway.  Maybe you will get some piece of inspiration out of it...hope so anyway :o)
The colors are from the Dynamic Duos Challenge #15 - Pretty in Pink and Certainly Celery.  This card also uses an allowed neutral of basic grey.

I used the sketch from Margaret Moody for the Pals Paper Arts #141 Challenge.  I interpretted it slightly by turning my rows horizontally instead of vertically (just didn't like how they looked with this frame).
PPA141 Sketch Challenge
I added a punched ruffled edge along the bottom of the card - so the top piece isn't as long as the bottom piece and it won't stand up - but is pretty when the recipient opens it.  I had to photograph it flat so you could see both layers of the border - so I think it makes the card look a little different than IRL.  The frame and flowers are from the Papaya Collage stamp set.  I cut out an extra flower and glue-dotted it on.  I also stamped one more flower over the top of the sentiment.  It was the third stamp off so it is a very subtle effect.  I used some strips from my Designer Series Paper Stack (subtles) for the celery strips in the background.  I've gotten a lot of use out of those paper stacks.

Looking at this card again, I think what I don't like about it is that the grey seems kind of stark against those soft colors, or maybe its the white - wishing I had used a softer grey or even a soft suede instead with a very vanilla cardstock.  Oh well - I do like the rest of the card.  And, I really like this sketch, so I might have to try different card with it.  Stay tuned and see if I redeem myself  - lol :o)

Thanks so much for stopping by to visit today - I'm sure glad that you did. Til next time - Hugs!

Christmas Cards All Year Round - August Challenge - Kids , Christmas Stampin all Year Long - "Anything Goes" and Just Keep on Creating - Christmas is Just Around the Corner

Hello friends!  Yesterday I shared a card with you that I made using this great  new Santa and kids stamp set called Wondrous Wishes.  That card had muted colors and only part of it was colored in to spotlight Santa.  This card is fully and brightly colored.   Doesn't this image just make you smile?  I love the little girl on Santa's lap with her list - too cute!  I loved Santa as a kid - couldn't wait to take my long list to share with him.  My daughter absolutely refused to get close to Santa - she preferred to worship him from afar.  She always had a list though and said that since he could see the little kids all the time then he already knew what was on her list even if she didn't go talk to him.

I'm entering this in two fun Christmas card challenges today - Christmas Cards All Year Round - August challenge which is to make a card suitable for a child, and Christmas Stampin' All Year Long #23 - "Anything Goes".  I think any kid (even a pre-teen or young adult) would love to get this card with its bright colors and fun image.  I am also entering this in a challenge that I stumbled upon  called Just Keep on Creating - Christmas is Just Around the Corner challenge.  Here's the inside (notice the DSP inside too - I'm giddy with pleasure that I finished the inside right away and with matching DSP):
The finished card size is 5 1/4" square and will fit just perfectly in a square envelope.  I hope you enjoyed the two different ways in which I colored this stamp.  Thanks so much for stopping by to visit today - I'm sure glad that you did! Til next time - Hugs!

Supplies (all from Stampin Up! except as noted):  Cardstock - Garden Green, Glimmer Paper - red, Real Red and Solar White (Neenah). Stamp and sentiments - Wondrous Wishes (NEW) colored with copic markers.  DSP - Frostwood Lodge (retired).  Glimmer Brads - brights.

CAS-ual Fridays (CFC65) - CAS Square Card , Christmas Stampin' All Year Long #23 - Anything Goes, and Just Keep on Creating - Christmas is Just Around the Corner challenge

HoHoHo - have you been naughty or nice this year?  I know... that's none of my business... but "you know who" is keeping a list and checking it twice.  Hope you on the nice list!  Most days I'm on the nice list but sometimes I slip - LOL!

I made this card for three challenges - CAS-ual Fridays #65 (CFC65) - Make a Clean and Simple Square Card, and Christmas Stampin' All Year Long #23 - "Anything Goes" and Just Keep On Creating - Christmas is Just Around the Corner challenge.

I love to make Christmas cards (maybe you've noticed this?) and square cards are on of my favorite to make so I couldn't pass up the CFC65 challenge.  I've also been challenging myself to get better at the CAS style, so another reason for entering the CFC65 challenge this week.

Most of my cards use bright colors and images - but I wanted to try something a bit different with this one.  I wanted the focus to be on Santa and the kids' faces as they are looking at him - so those are the parts I colored in and left the rest uncolored.  I absolutely love how this card turned out if I must say so myself!  The copper paper behind the image gives everything just the right amount of subtle attention.  Here's a close up of the image:
My finished card size is 4 3/4" square.  I kept my layers minimal and with clean lines.  No embellies on this card either.
I made two cards right away with this new set - the one you see here with just a spotlight of muted colors and a full color, bright version.  I don't think the second one would be considered CAS so I'll share it with you in a separate post.  Thanks so much for stopping by to visit me today - I'm sure glad that you did!  Hope you'll come back soon to see the other card too.  Til next time - Hugs!
