Decorated "Merry" - 52CCT April Stash Challenge - Glitter

Hello friends!  Here we are to the weekend and time for another challenge at 52 {Christmas}Card Throwdown - where we are helping you get your Christmas cards ready one week at a time :o)
Deborah has chosen the 52CCT April Stash Challenge which is to use Glitter
Yep - that's right - Glitter!  We think that most of you must have some of this in your stash in some form.  For example, bottles of glitter, glitter glue, glittery stickers, glitter paper. Hmmm...am I missing anything?

I LOVE the look of glitter - but HATE the mess of it.
Most of my glitter stash is in the form of glitter glue and stickers.
I do have some glitter paper that doesn't flake off  on everything that I like as well.
So... here's what I came up with using some glitter from my stash. Take a look:
As you can see, I went to my cardstock sticker stash and made something fun :o)
It's kind of hard to see the glitter so here's a closer view:

Oh dear - I don't know what's wrong with this photo. I apologize for the poor quality!
Hopefully the glitter stuff at least shows better.

I had this negative die piece sitting on my desk from a previous card.  It worked perfectly
for me to use and participate in the Merry Monday Challenge #105
which is to use a Christmas word or words and decorate each letter of the word.

I am also entering my card in the following challenges:
Simply Create Too Challenge #60  'Stack Um Up' - use at least 2 layers

So will you join us for the 52CCT April Stash Challenge?  You can use a lot or a little glitter.
The rest of my lovely DT pals have made some wonderful glittery creations to inspire you.
Please go visit them and say "hi". We love to hear from you :o)

Til next time friends...hugs and happy crafting! D

52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown - Color Challenge #20 (Red and Metallic Gold)

Hello dear friends and followers - so happy that you've stopped by to visit me today.  The second week of every month at 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown (52CCT) is a color challenge. This month Sarah is our hostess and she has chosen this gorgeous color combo:
Here's my card to share with you this week using this elegant color scheme:
The ornaments in the photo really inspired me as well as the color.  I used some Dazzles stickers from my stash (I'm been really good lately about trying to use up what I have before buying more) - aren't they lovely? I made the larger ornaments first by placing them on a piece of red cardstock and cutting around them.  I found this to be a bit too tedious, so I just placed the smaller ornaments directly on the card base when I added them (can you image cutting around those little things? Not for me, thank you :o) ).  The scalloped layer was sitting on my desk (its hard for me to toss out those negative images).  I just jazzed it up a bit by running it through a snowflake embossing folder.  I'm a bit bummed that the sentiment didn't show up more. It was stamped with gold embossing ink,  but I didn't emboss it as it was very late and I didn't want to fire up my heat gun and wake everyone up.  So I just used some of that "hot air" of mine and huffed on it til I was out of breath and decided to go to bed and hope that it looked darked in the morning - lol.  In real life it does show up better than in this photo, but still not as dark as I would have liked.  Overall I'm really please with how this turned out - hope you like it too.

The other lovely ladies on the 52CCT DT have made some gorgeous creations to share with you as well. Please go visit them too - you'll be glad that you did :o)

I hope you will decide to play along with us this week.  Til next time...hugs and happy crafting! D

House of Cards - Month One Clean and Simple

Hello friends! I'm so digging the inspiration photo and colors for this month's challenge at  House of  Cards . These colors are some of my all-time favorites to use.  Here's the inspiration photo - same one as last week but this time instead of Cute and Fun they want to see a Clean and Simple (CAS) style card using at least 3 of the colors see below:
 http://design-seeds.com/palettes/FreshCherry.png

The CAS style used to make me have heart tremors as it was really outside my comfort zone.  In fact even 3 months ago I would pretty much avoid entering a challenge if it required CAS.  But being part a design team for another challenge that requires this style once a month has given me lots of practice and really helped me get better and more comfortable with this style. I'd even say that I kind of like it  now.  So... here's what I made to enter this week's challenge:
Shut the front door.... how perfect is this to have a bowl of cherries sticker in my crafting stash for this challenge - LOL!  I'm feeling practically giddy that I had these great peel off stickers (Elizabeth Craft Designs) to use for this week's challenge at HOC.  I had purchased them probably a year or more ago after attending a class on how to use them with copic markers.  Funny how the simplest things can make a person happy. I'm seriously just so tickled that I found these to use!!

Okay...enough silliness (thanks for indulging me a bit) let me tell you just a bit more about my card.  I didn't have a sentiment stamp that went with this so I created one in Word on my computer.  I really like how the words are shadowed in a lighter color.  Adds interest without taking away for the CAS design.  I used a very thin mat around the image to give it a bit  more "pop" and yet it still left plenty of white space on the card.   The copic markers I used are: BG01 & BG05 (bowl), R29, R39 & R89 (cherries), G28 (leaves) and E49 (stems). I'm kind of wishing that I had finished it off with Crystal Glaze to make the cherries shiny. Hmmmm... gonna have to try that with the other bowls I still have to use.

This card is going to my 89 year old Grandma who recently fell and broke her leg (right at the hip joint).  She is feeling very much in the pits and we are trying to keep her spirits up so she can stay strong and heal faster. I think this card will make her laugh.  So far not finding anything in my stamp collection that really grabs me for the inside sentiment.  If you know of a really good saying to put on the inside (funny, inspirational or otherwise) before I give it to her next week I'd love to hear it.

Guess that's about it for now.  Thanks so much for stopping by to visit me today - I'm sure glad that you did! Til next time....hugs and happy crafting friends! D
