Another MOJO Monday 234

Hello friends!  As promised, today I am sharing another card I made using the MOJO Monday 234 Sketch.  I made this card for my son's sweet girlfriend Mackenzie's 18th birthday - but couldn't share it with you until I had given it to her.  Didn't have time to bake her a cake - but this was the next best thing.  She loved it and I hope you do too. Thanks for stopping by!

I have mentioned this before, but can't help but repeat myself.  The Sweet Shop papers and stickers that I have been showcasing lately are one of my all-time SU favorites so far, and sadly they will be gone after April 30th. So... if you love them too, be sure to get them before they disappear.  If you don't already have a Stampin Up! demonstrator, you can order directly from my website at www.daniellevincent.stampinup.net.

Supplies (all from Stampin Up!): Cardstock - Early Espresso, Whisper White, Blushing Bride and Calypso Coral.  Patterned paper - Sweet Shop Speciality Designer Series Paper (125408). Stickers - Sweet Shop Designer Stickers (125584).  Sentiment - Petite Pairs (122495 wood or 122497 clear).  Ribbon - 1/8" tafetta in Early Espresso (119959). Brad - In Color Designer brads (122940). Texture folder for Pink strip - Square Lattice (119976).  Finished card size is 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" and it fits in the Stampin Up square envelopes (107289) - does require extra postage.

Mo's Challenge #128, FMS28 & Divas by Design

Happy Friday everyone! Today I am entering this card in the following challenges: Mo Manning's DP2 Challenge #128 Photo Inspiration (by Dorcas), Freshly Made Sketches (FMS28) and Divas by Design Stamp Something which could be an image, a sentiment or a background and can include digi stamping.  What a perfect Tri-fecta for me today.  Thanks so much to the design teams at Mo's, Freshly Made Sketches and Divas for the inspiration to my creativity and the opportunity to participate in these challenges.

This week's challenge from Mo Manning's DP2 Challenge  is a Photo Inspiration.  As soon as I saw the photo I knew it had to be a wedding card that I would create.  The sketch from Lesley at Freshly Made Sketches was just the framework I needed to add to Mo's inspiration for this card.  On a side note, today is my 21st anniversary. This sweet digital image by Mo Manning reminds me of my wedding day and of how young we were when we got married. My how time has flown by!

I knew that I wanted to use flowers on this card as my embellishment, but I couldn't find just what I had in mind - suddenly it dawned on me to color the flowers I had from a retired Stampin Up! stash and the result was even better than I had been looking for.

Here's a couple other views and the inside too:

My husband saw me working on this card last night and I think he thinks it is for him. I have a surprise for him though, instead I am making him a mini memory album of us through the past 21 years (which I need to get finished done before dinner tonight - so I better get going on this now!).

Thanks so much for stopping by to view my card - I appreciate that you take the time to pop in and visit and sometimes leave me comments that brighten my day.  I hope this has inspired you in some way! Hugs.
Supplies (all from Stampin Up! except the Mo digital image and Copic markers):  Cardstock - Whisper White, Pretty in Pink and Basic Grey (textured).  Patterned Paper - Patterns Designer Series Paper Stack (Pretty in Pink used here) #117152.  Digital Image - Bride and Groom Dancing from Mo Mannings Digital Pencil Shop. Sentiments - (card front) Loving Thoughts (125843 wood or 125845 clear), available in the Occassions Mini until April 30th and (inside) God's Blessings (114972).  This is actually all one sentiment that I taped off on the stamp and used separately for this card.  The hearts texture on the left side of the card is from the Adorning Accents Textured Impressions Embossing Folders (125601) available in the Occassions Mini catalog until April 30th.  The Flowered textured piece on the inside of the card was made with the Manhattan Flower Textured Impressions Embossing folder (114517).  Punches used for the sentiment on front are the Modern Label (119849) and a small oval (retired).  Flowers are from my retired Stampin Up! stash colored with my Copics and the sheer green ribbon is from the Sale-A-Bration catalog (which expires today!).  Image is colored with my Copic markers.

Merry Monday #13

Hello Friends and Happy Thursday to you!  Today I am entering this card in the Merry Monday Challenge #13 hosted by Lesley at Always Playing with Paper.

Does it seem odd to pop into my blog and see a Christmas card - especially when we are all eagerly anticipating the true arrival of Spring?  It did to me at first too, but now I look forward to the new challenge each week and somehow it seems more fun to create a Christmas card now when there is less pressure around everything else to do at the holiday.

Once again I chose a non-traditional color for my card - pink!  I think it is so sweet with the brown - and who says Christmas needs to be red and green only? Not me - but I do still love the traditional red and green combo.  Does my daughter like the color on this card (remember what she said about my last pink one)?  Nope... LOL... but she does think the little girl is precious and likes the sparkles.  She so totally cracks me up! I'll make a pink convert of her yet - just wait and see :o)

What might not show up very well in this picture is that sparkle I added to each little snowflake on the textured background with my Dazzling Details glitter glue.  It added a subtle sheen to the card that is a wonderful compliment to all the other sparkle and shine going on.  Hope you enjoy today's card and if you are inspired to participate, please pop into the Always Playing with Paper site and go for it!  Thanks so much for stopping by! Leave a note if you wish - I love to receive your comments.  Hugs.

Supplies (all from Stampin Up!):  Cardstock - Pink Pirouette, Whisper White and Chocolate Chip.  Specialty Paper - Silver Glimmer paper (snowflake).  Inks - Staz On Black, Chocolate Chip, Pretty in Pink, Wild Wasabi, Soft Suede, and Daffodil Delight.  Stamps - Greeting Card Kids (119887 wood or 120633 clear) and Snow Much Fun for the sentiment (122560 wood or 122562 clear).  I colored the image with my blender pens (102845)and residual ink from my stamp pad colors mentioned above. I used the Snowflakes texture folder for the embossed background.   Sparkle is provided by the Dazzling Details Glitter glue in the Clear and Cherry Cobbler.  The snowflake is from the Northern Frost Sizzlits Decorative Strip Die run through my Big Shot Sizzix machine.  Glimmer Brad in the Subtles collection (121004).

ColourQ #130 and Retro Sketches #4

Hello friends!  Once again I am participating in the tremendously fun ColourQ Challenge #130 (see below).  I like this challenge because it really helps me stretch creatively with the colors that are selected each week. This week though I popped into the Retro Sketches Challenge just out of curiosity (its always mentioned on the side bar at ColourQ, and Arielle at Colour Q made a fab card using that sketch that intrigued me.  So... long story short (or maybe its kind of medium - ha) I decided to combine these two challenges and enter this card for both.

Thank you to the design teams at the following challenges for the opportunity to enter this card:  ColourQ Challenge #130 and Retrosketches #4

Supplies (all are from Stampin Up!): Cardstock - Whisper White (textured and regular). Patterned paper from the Brights Patterns Designer Series Paper Stack (117155). Stamp - Gift Givers (from the Holiday Mini 2011 - retired).  Sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes set (115370) stamped with Certainly Celery classic ink.  Bitty flowers punched with the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack #118309 (one of three in the set) with Melon Mambo and Daffodil Delight cardstock.  The leaves are snipped from the branch on the Bird Builder punch (117191) in Certainly Celery cardstock.  I finished each of the flowers with a small rhinestone (two sizes) from the Basic Rhinestones set (119247).  I used the Extra Large Oval Punch (119859) for the egg shape.
One last thing... I colored the egg image using my blender pens 102845) and some residual ink from the classic ink pads in the following colors: Daffodil Delight (119667), Melon Mambo (115656), Tempting Turqouise (100814) and Certainly Celery (105217).  And oops.. I see I accidently rounded both corners on the card instead of just one as in the Retrosketch example.

MOJO Monday 234

Happy "Yay it's Wednesday"!  Today I would like to enter this card in the Mojo Monday 234 (MOJO234) - Round or Square Challenge.   I love to make big square cards (BTW, they still fit in the Stampin Up! Square envelopes = bonus!). So even though the round shape of this weeks sketch was very intriguing, I decided to go square.  Next time I am going to challenge myself to do the round shape.  I made this with a very special person in mind.  One who loves purple.  This is also another sample as I promised you using my favorite coordinating set out of the Occassions Mini catalog - Sweet Shop.  I will be sad to see it go, it is so fun and Yummy (LOL).  If you love it too you better snatch it up before its gone on April 30th.  You can order with me 24/7 on my Stampin Up demonstrator website www.daniellevincent.stampinup.net.  I made another card using this same format and some more of this great DSP that I will share with you later.

Note: the saying on this stamp is actually all one piece but I colored the "Happy" part first with my Wisteria Wonder marker and stamped three separate times. Then I colored the "Birthday" part of the same stamp and used it on the last row of the saying.    Thanks for stopping by to see my creation. Hope you saw something that inspired you today and that your day is most excellent!

Supplies (all from Stampin Up!): Cardstock - Whisper White and Wisteria Wonder.  Patterned Paper - Sweet Shop Specialty Designer Series paper (125408).  Sticker - Sweet Shop Designer Stickers (125584). Stamp - Curly Cute (117014 wood or 120510 clear).  Ink - Wisteria Wonder Stampin Write marker.  Ribbon - 3/8" Ruffled Ribbon in Wisteria Wonder (122973).

Paper Players Challenge #88

Happy Tuesday (or is it called "We Survived Monday"?)!  Today I would like to enter this card in The Paper Players Challenge #88 - A Sketch from Ann.  I'd been looking for an excuse to use this darling typewriter stamp and as soon as I saw Ann's fun sketch I knew that's just what I would do.  I keep thinking of what a special note this would be from someone in the service to their loved ones back home (or vise versa).  Could be considered a masculine card too.  Not too overly mushy - just sweet, don't you think?

Here's Ann sketch that I used:

And a picture of the finished inside:

Thanks for stopping by to see my card. I hope you liked it and saw something that inspired you to try something new, or make a sweet love note to someone who would love to hear from you. Hugs!

Supplies (all from Stampin Up!): Cardstock - Wild Wasabi, Early Espresso, Whisper White and Rose Red (hearts). Ink - Early Espresso and Wild Wasabi. Patterned Paper - Just Add Cake DSP (124339). Stamps - sentiment on paper of typewriter (and inside the card) is from P.S. I Love You (125460 wood or 125462 clear) which is only available until April 30th in the Occassions Mini catalog. Typewriter and sentiment on tab is from You're My Type (125564 wood or 125650 clear) also only available until April 30th in the Occassions Mini catalog. Ribbon is 1/8" tafetta in Early Espresso (119959). The teeny little heart so from the Owl Building Punch (118074). I also used the Scallop Edge Border punch (119882) and the Decorative Label punch (120907). The Small Heart punch was used for the inside of the card (117193).

Spring Break Vacation Destination for OCCC & Divas by Design

Hello and Happy Monday!    My kids are on spring break this week but I am headed to work.  No fun or exotic destination for our family this year (upcoming college visits will be our trip this year) - but that doesn't mean I can't dream.   I am entering this card in two challenges today:  Our Creative Corner (OCCC) "spring break vacation destination" Challenge and Divas By Design Challenge 27 "Distressing".

The design team at Our Creative Corner has come up with the idea to make a postcard that would reflect where we are going or would most like to do for Spring Break vacation. The additional requirement is to include the name of your destination somewhere on your project.  You can see that I didn't use a name but I hope that you'll get that my dream destination is to travel the world ( the globe is sort of my name if you read between the line :o)).  It is a dream of mine to travel around the world - there are so many places I haven't been and so many that I would like to see like Australia, Germany, Italy (have you read the book "Eat, Pray, Love"?), Paris, Switzerland, Hawaii, Boston, Virginia, Costa Rica, Jamaica, Japan, London, New York, Disneyworld, the huge shopping mall in Canada (ha ha)... you get the idea.  I wish I would hurry up and win the lottery so that I could be on a perpetual spring break vacation - LOL!  Spring is still trying to come here in Montana.  Saturday we still had some residual snow in the yard from a snow storm a couple days before.  This morning we are completely socked in with fog.  So my postcard would come from everywhere eventually, but I think it I was going somewhere this week I would pick somewhere warm and tropical.

The Divas By Design Challenge is distressing such as paper tearing, inking, distress paints etc.  My distressing on this card is the distressed patterned paper and the distressed edges on my two titles.  The stamps I used also have a distressed effect to them.   I used a mix of stamps and digital images from My Digital Studio to make this card.  Here is a couple other views:
So where would you go (or are you going)?  Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies (all are from Stampin UP!): Cardstock - Crumb Cake and Cajun Craze.  Patterned paper - Well Worn DSP (122359). Classic Ink - Cajun Craze (119671). My Digital Studio images - "Daring Adventure" (inside sentiment), "Sentimental Journey" (airplane and suitcase), " The Open Sea" (globe).  Stamps - Sentimental Journey (Travel, Journey & compass) - retired.  I snipped the inside globe out of a saying in the Word Play set (120308 wood or 120651 clear).

The Daring Adventure set is also a stamp set that is currently available in the Idea Book (122600 wood or 122602 clear).

He is Risen

Hello Friends - hope you are having a great day!  This is a card I used for a workshop earlier this month.  It was a fun and fairly easy card to put together.  I will miss that great sheer Lucky Limeade ribbon from Sale-A-Bration - it adds such a soft shimmery effect.  As is the case with many of my workshops, most of the ladies took this idea and then made their own customized version.  I love it when an idea is sparked like that!  Getting to play a part in that creative process is so much fun for me.  Hope you enjoy this too and saw something that inspired you!  Thanks so much for stopping by.

Supplies (all from Stampin Up!):  Cardstock - Pear Pizzazz, Daffodil Delight, Very Vanilla, Melon Mambo and Pretty in Pink (butterflies).  Stamps - Just Believe (116948 wood or 120453 clear) and Sentiment is from  "He Is Risen" (121919 wood or 121988 clear).  Butterflies were made with the Beautiful Wings Embosslet die (118318).  Ink is Old Olive (102277) and Pear Pizzazz (119784).  I used the Extra Wide Oval (119859) and Large Oval (119855) punches for the sentiment and some dimension dots (104430) to pop it up a bit.  I used the Stripes texture folder (123128) for the background on the Daffodil layer.  Finishing touches are the basic pearls (119247)) and the beautiful Lucky Limeade sheer ribbon from Sale-A-Bration (retired after March 31st).

Things with Wings & Lots of Bling for Mo

Hello and Happy Sunday!  Warning!!  You might want to put on your sunglasses in case all this bling is too bright for your eyes - LOL.  I created this card to enter in two challenges today - Mo's "Bling it On" DP2 Challenge #127 and Paper Creations Ink! Challenge #21 "Things with Wings".

This darling little housekeeping fairy is from Mo's Digital Pencil Shop.  She reminds me of all those Super Woman friends of mine who just magically seem to be able to do it all - clean house, do laundry, take care of the kids, work full-time (both and home and in the office).  This could be a great Mother's Day card for one of them.  This would also be a fun card from someone who has an amazing housekeeper.  Here is an up close view so  you can see the sparkles I put on her wings and around the duster.

This was a very fun card for me to make - I'm typically not so "blingy" with my creations - but I kind of went wild with the rhinestones - and I loved it (smiling widely)!  I don't think I will make my image so small  next time though because it is challenging for a newer Copic colorer to get in those small places and still do a good job.  I really had fun making this card and I hope you enjoy it too.   Thanks to the wonderful design teams of Mo's Challenge and Paper Creations Ink! for this fun challenge.  Check out these challenges and see the wonderful samples that the design teams have created to inspire you - you just might decide to participate too.  Thanks for stopping by - I hope I have inspired you in some way today!

Here's the inside too - I kept with the theme but wrapped the laundry aspect in also (to tie the clothes pins in from the front of the card) and the general theme of  the "magical winged fairy" who does it all.

Supplies (all from Stampin Up! except Copic markers, digital image & Rhinestone Swirls):  Image is from Mo's Digital Pencil Shop "Housekeeping Fairy".  Cardstock - Calypso Coral, Basic Grey Whisper White, and Pool Party.  Patterned Paper - Domestic Goddess DSP (122355). Ink - Basic Grey for sentiment (109120). Sentiment (front) is from Elementary Elegance (FREE out of the Sale-A-Bration catalog with a minimum $50 order but is only available for 1 more week), Sentiment inside is from Perfect Words (hostess set).  Sparkle around image added with Dazzling Dimensions Glitter Glue & 3 rhinestones around sentiment are from the Basic Rhinestones set.  Punches for sentiment - Scalloped Oval (119856) and Large Oval (119855). Decorative Flourishes (Champagne) from KaiserCraft.  Image colored with my Copic markers.

Cupcake Card - Version 2

Hello friends! Just a little fun for you today.  I told you that I would be sharing the other card I made for the Colour Q and Freshly Made Sketches challenges that I decided not to use.  Take a peek at the one I entered for CQC129 and FMS27 on Friday and see if you can "spot" the differences between these two cards.  Can you?

Well, this one has less layering of the colors, a differently textured background, and a simpler (cleaner) design (no confetti).  I was bummed though because my glue set too fast and my sentiment circle had to get a little squished on the bottom - but its still okay.  Which one you like best will really depend on your personal style.  For me that can vary - sometimes I'm in the mood for the really quick and simple card which means less layering (or how many nights I have already stayed up late "playing" in my craft room).  No right or wrong - just different :o)  My daughter likes this version best.

I'm so glad you stopped by to visit - now go make something fun!  Happy weekend to you!

MOJO Monday 233

Hello again friends!  Doing two posts today because I'm not sure I will get a chance to do it tomorrow and I don't want to miss the chance to particpate in this fun MOJO Monday Challenge (MOJO233).  As you can see, I decided to flip the sketch for my card to fit the idea I had in mind.  This is some more that fun NEW and COMING SOON "Summer Smooches" DSP from Stampin Up.  It will be available as a special purchase from April 1st to 30th (then it will be gone until the new Idea Book and Catalog comes out).  I am just in love with the bright color scheme and patterns of this paper!  If you scroll into some of my other posts you will see a couple other examples that I have made using it (and I have more to come!).
I made the leaves by first punching one circle with the 1 3/8" circle punch and then putting that circle back into the punch about a third of the way and punching it (do that twice and you have two cute little leaves) - I learned that nifty little trick from a video by Mary at stampinpretty.com

Hope you enjoy this card and thanks so much for stopping by!  I love to receive your comments so please feel free to leave me a note and share a smile.  I did remove the word verification so it should be easier to do now.

So... I can't give you all the details yet on this great DSP yet, but stay tuned!  Other supplies used that I am happy to divulge are:  Cardstock - Lucky Limeade (base), Tangerine Tango, Whisper White and Daffodil Delight. Sentiment is from Pursuit of Happiness (121907 wood or 121970 clear ) stamped with Island Indigo classic ink (122937).  Buttons are from the Brights designer buttons set (119747).  Punches used are the Scallop Edge Border (119882), the 1 3/8" circle (119860) and the 3/4" circle (119873).

Seeing Spots for ColourQ129 & FMS27

Hello and Happy Friday to you all!  I'm excited to share this fun card with you tonight that I created to enter in  ColourQ Challenge #129 and Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #27(Seeing Spots).  Isn't it cool how well these two challenges just seemed to be the perfect fit together (see the sketch and color swatch below)?  Circles are my favorite shape of all so I was jazzed about Lesley's sketch and these blues with the purples - well I just have to say "Yum!"    I made another version of it too but I liked this one best.  I'll share that one with you tomorrow and you can see which one you like best.

On a side note - this card feels perfect to me today to share because I was so happy to see that I now have 6 followers!!  I just think that is so awesome - it calls for cupcakes and confetti in my book.  Thanks so much for stopping by!  I hope you saw something that inspired you today.  Hugs!

Here's my two sources of inspiration for this card:

And here are the Supplies I used to create them (all are from Stampin Up!):  Cardstock - Whisper White, Pool Party (very similar to the Cool Caribbean), Tempting Turquoise, Wisteria Wonder and Rich Razzleberry.  Stamp for sentiment is from the Fabulous Phrases set (117002 wood or 120501 clear).  Ink color is Rich Razzleberry (115658).  Cupcake is made from the very versatile Cupcake Builder Punch (121807).  Circle punches used are the 1 3/4" circle (119850) and the 1 3/8" circle (119860).  The texture on the Pool Party background was made using the Perfect Polka Dots texture folder 117335) and my Sizzix Big Shot machine (I used the reverse side after I texturized it). The sentiment is highlighted by using the Word Window punch (119857).

Paper Players Challenge #87 - CAS with Buttons

Hello friends.  Nance Leedy at The Paper Players have come up with challenge that I just couldn't pass up.  This weeks challenge from Nance is to create a Clean and Simple (CAS) card using buttons.  Clean and simple is usually right up my alley - but buttons aren't something I typically think to use when I'm putting together a card.  Love the look of them on a card though - so perfect time to "think" to use them in the creative process.  Here is the card I am submitting for this challenge. Thanks Nance for the opportunity to play with the Paper Players this week.

This is another card that I used the NEW and COMING SOON "Summer Smooches" DSP on.  Orange is such a happy energetic color for me and I really love purple and orange together.  It's one of my favorite combos.  I just know you are going to love this new DSP!

Here are the details on this card - Supplies (all are from Stampin Up! except Copic markers): Cardstock - Perfect Plum, Pumpkin Pie and Whisper White.  DSP - NEW and COMING SOON "Summer Smooches".  Stamps - The Nicest Things (girls) and Just Believe (friends).  Flowers are made using the Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch (122464).  Buttons are from the Brights  Designer Buttons collections (119747) and a couple pink ones from my retired stash. I couldn't resist putting a few teeny pearls from the Basic Pearls (   ) on there too.  The image is one of the first ones I colored with Copic markers.  It has sat on my work table for quite a while waiting for me to find a card to put it on.  I love when I'm able to use spare parts or "changed my mind" elements at some later time when the idea is right.

Thanks for stopping by! I love to hear from you so leave me a note if you saw something you liked. Make it a great day!

Bingo Card with Something Green for OCCC

Greetings! Yep - this is a Christmas card.  Nope, I haven't lost my mind - I do realize that its supposed to be spring :o)  But, today I am entering a card for the first time in the Our Creative Corner Challenge (OCCC).

This weeks challenge at OCCC is to make a card or tag with some sort of bingo card on it, and use the color green somewhere on the project.  I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that most of you probably wouldn't have interpreted this as Christmas green - right?  Well..funny story... I had just finished up a card for another challenge that actually is to make Christmas cards (Merry Monday Challenge) and I had all this Christmas stuff out on my work table as I was reading about this week's OCCC challenge and inspiration struck! The result is this card.  Hey, I get points for creativity - right?

Seriously, I sure hope you enjoy this card.  The size is 5 1/2 " square and fits nicely into the SU square envelopes (it is a postage hog though).  Supplies are listed below.  Thanks so much for popping in - hope I inspired you to create a bingo card with something green  (maybe you'll chose a spring theme though) :o)

Supplies (all are from Stampin Up!):  Cardstock - Old Olive, Cherry Cobbler and Early Espresso.  Patterned Paper - Letters to Santa (122349). Ribbon - 1/2" Seam binding in Baja Breeze. Brad from the Glimmer Brads - brights (121006). Buttons and felt embellishments- from my stash of retired products.

Merry Monday Challenge #12

Hello Friends!  This week's Merry Monday Challenge #12 from Lesley at Always Playing with Paper was based on a super simple sketch to allow for a quick card.  Well... let me tell you it worked!  This card took me all of 5 minutes top.  I didn't do any stamping on this card at all (I almost feel guilty!) and just let the fun designer paper do its job. I even used another part of this piece of DSP for the sentiments.  Lesley's sketch is shown below.  As  you can see I flipped the orientation on it.  I also made this a 5" x 7" size (which will be great for adding a photo of the kids and dogs come Christmas time)  Super easy - Super Fun - Super Done (in 5 minutes)!   Thanks Lesley :o)

Thanks for stopping by today.  Hope you enjoy this simple card!
Supplies (all from Stampin Up!):  Cardstock base - Cherry Cobbler.  Patterned Paper - Letters to Santa DSP (122349). Ribbon - 1/8" Tafetta Ribbon in Early Espresso (119959). Glitter on Santa's hat and coat trim - Dazzling Details glitter glue.

Sneak Peek and PPA131

Hello and Happy Tuesday!  Today I am giving you a sneak peek at a couple wonderful new products that will be coming out soon and entering this card in the Pals Paper Arts Sketch Challenge 131 (PPA131) by Margaret Moody (see below). This was an incredibly fun sketch to work with and I knew immediately that I wanted to use my new paper and stamps with it.
PPA131

I'll bet you are just dying to know more about this fun set so here's the deets...
Supplies (all are from Stampin Up!):  Patterned Paper - Summer Smooches Designer Series Paper - NEW and COMING SOON!  Stamps: Bright Blossoms (flower pot & flowers)- NEW and COMING SOON! and On Your Birthday (111664). Cardstock - Island Indigo, Very Vanilla and Whisper White (isn't this a yummy combo?).  Brads - 2011-2013 In Color Designer Brads (122940).

Other fun stuff... I discovered that the eyes from the Owl Builder Punch fit the round blossoms just perfectly (I discovered this because I messed up my stamping and it didn't show up all the way (a happy accident) - the little blue dots are also part of the eyes from the Owl Builder Punch and so perfectly mimic the pattern on the paper (I love it when things match!).  The little heart in the corner is from, yes you guessed it... the Owl Builder punch (118074).

Hope you enjoy today's card.  I'll be making more fun samples with this set to share with you soon. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you saw something that inspired you to go create something fun! Try this sketch it just might get those creative juices flowing :o)

Spring is in the Air & Buttons and Bows Challenges

Hello everyone - meet Eileen.  Isn't she just so sweet?  Eileen is from Mo Manning's digital pencil shop. She reminds me of my Grandma Hester who loves flowers and was always planting something pretty (before she was no longer able).  I'm so glad that spring is on the way and I can't wait to get my own gardening gloves out and start playing in the dirt.  Flowers always make everything seem happier - don't you think?

Today I am entering this card in Paper Creations Ink! Challenge #20 "Spring is in the Air" and Mo's Digital Challenge #126 - Buttons and Bows/using a Mo's digital image. Hope you enjoy today's card.  I sure had fun making it to share with you.  Hang in there - spring is coming!  Thanks for stopping by.

Here's a close up of Eileen:

Supplies: Cardstock, patterned paper, buttons, sentiment and ribbon (Stampin Up!).  Digital image from Mo's Digital Pencil Shop.  Coloring medium - Copic markers.

Mojo Monday 232

Hello friends, this is the card I made for this weeks Mojo Monday Challenge MOJO232.  This sketch is nice for putting together a quick card.  The flower was the longest part but still was fairly quick.  I hadn't played much with this paper until recently and I just love the bright cheery colors of this DSP (so appropriately called "Cheerful Treat") - its got great variety.  If you click on the card it will zoom you in to better see the other colors included in this great pack of paper (the middle of the flower).  This is available as a hostess choice in the Stampin Up! Idea Book and Catalog until the end of May.

If you are wondering how I made this flower, here are the deets... Punch 4 circles from the DSP using the 2 1/2" circle punch (120906) and fold each piece in half and then in half again (each piece folded in half - if that makes more sense).  I glued each folded circle to a 1 3/4" circle base as I layed each folded piece down.  The middle of the flower is 4 punched scallop circles using the Scallop Circle punch (119854). I put a small glue dot close to the edge of each folded scallop piece just to keep it together but it still has some dimension to it.  The finishing touches are some of the smallest pearls from the Basic Pearls set (119247) around the edges and a larger one in the middle placed on a button from the Subtles Designer Buttons collection (119745).  I wrapped the ribbon around my entire card (because I accidently glued down my layers before I remembered the ribbon) so the recipient will see a pretty piece inside too.  This is the 3/8" Ruffled Ribbon in Wisteria Wonder (122973).  This ribbon has a soft, almost papery feel to it and is fun to work with. I used a corner rounder from my stash but you could use the SU 3/16" Corner punch (119871) to get a very similar effect.

Thanks for stopping by - I hope you enjoyed this card and saw something that inspired you to go create something fun!

Freshly Made Sketches #26 & ColourQ #128 Challenges

Hello again, so I'm getting ready for bed and suddenly the idea for this card hit me. I knew that I would not sleep (even if I wrote the idea down and put it beside my bed) - so I got myself back up to my craft room and put this together.  Yes... this is how it goes in my card making obsessed brain!  I will pay for this tomorrow morning at 7:30 AM at the Volleyball tournament though.  But hey, who needs sleep anyway - it's overrated isn't it (LOL)?  It's so much more fun to make cards.

I am entering this card in two challenges: Freshly Made Sketches #26 and Colour Q Challenge #128.  These ColourQ colors really had me thinking.  I love that about this challenge!  Thankfully I also have the opportunity to participate in the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge because after all, a great sketch makes for a great card.  What a perfect pair for me tonight!

I was surprised to find that I still had the SU Glorious Green cardstock - but couldn't find Going Grey (which was one of my favorites) so I used Basic Grey instead.  The sentiment on the card is in Going Grey ink.   Perhaps you see something that inspires you too?  Check out these challenges (especially if you have trouble sleeping!) and play along too.  It's lot's of fun.  Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies(all are from Stampin Up!):  Cardstock - Certainly Celery, Wild Wasabi, Glorious Green, &Very Vanilla.  Patterned Paper - Twitterpated DSP, available until April 30th in the Occassions Mini (I snipped the border from one of the patterns). Sentiment - Hostess Afterthoughts (retired).   Four-leaf clover created with 8 hearts from the Heart to Heart punch (119881) & small heart by sentiment.  Stem for the clover is from the Bird Builder punch (117191).  Circle punch - 2 1/2" (120906).  Glimmer Brad - Subtles (121004). Texture folder - Perfect Polka Dots (117335).

Merry Monday Challenge #11

Hello Friends and Happy Friday!  This has been a crazy week for me and I haven't had as much time to play as I would have liked. Real life got in the way of my stamping obession - LOL.  But... I did want to make sure to particpate again in the Merry Monday Challenge #11 based on the sketch by Lesley at Always Playing with Paper.  Looking at the colors I chose, I think I really had spring rather than Christmas on my brain.  I showed it to  my daughter who said "Ummm those are really different colors - they don't really say Christmas to me".  Oh the nerve of her! Doesn't she know she is supposed to say "Wow - that's great Mom"?  Ha Ha.   I agree it isn't exactly traditional Christmas colors but I did like how it turned out.  Hope you do too and that I've inspired you to "think outside your box a bit" :o)  Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies (all are from Stampin Up!): Cardstock - Blushing Bride & Pear Pizzazz. DSP - Letters to Santa  -see its Christmas Paper (122349). Stamp Sentiment - Petite Pairs (122495 wood or 122497 clear). Ink - Chocolate Chip.  Brads - Glimmer brads Basics (121003).  Felt Wreath (retired from the Holiday Mini 2011).  Ribbon - 1/8" tafetta ribbon (retired), Pink rhinestones - from the Blossoms Builder kit in the Occassions mini (available until April 30th) LOVE these things.

i{heart}2stamp March Challenge SFYTT

Today I am entering the i{heart}2stamp March challenge SFYTT for the first time. I used the colors from the Paper Players #86 - Lesley's Colour Challenge  (which includes the colors of Wisteria Wonder, Crumb Cake, Pool Party and Pear Pizazz) and was looking for a sketch to jump start my creativity.  I happened upon this challenge and it was a perfect fit. I LOVE the sketch and it helped me get my creativity in the groove.  I think this card has kind a a funky retro vibe and is kind of "Groovy" :o) Hope you like it too!  What a fun opportunity to participate with this great sketch.  I plan to use it many times with lots of the ideas that are now rolling around in my head.

Funny story to share with you... I finished this card, showed the sketch to my friend, then showed her my card and told her the colors that were part of the PP86 challenge that I was trying to incorporate with the sketch. She looked at me kind of funny and said "Uhhh, where's the Pool Party?" Oh my goodness I had forgotten one of the colors!! What to do?? The glue on my flower hadn't had time to fully set so I quickly pulled it off the card and punched another layer for the flower with the Pool Party cardstock and stuck it back on again.   As happy accidents sometimes go, I liked the subtle effect it added to the card by having just a touch of that color.

Supplies (all from Stampin UP!): Cardstock - Pear Pizzazz, Whisper White, Crumb Cake, Pool Party and Wisteria Wonder. Patterned paper - Sweet Shop Speciality DSP (in the Occassions Mini 125408). Ink and Markers - Staz On Black, Crumb Cake and Wisteria Wonder SU markers (sentiment). Stamps - Everybunny (122705 wood or 122707 clear) and Sprinkled Expressions (FREE during Sale-A-Bration with a $50 order) available only until March 30th. Ribbon - 3/8 " Pleated Satin Ribbon in Pear Pizzazz (available in the Occassions Mini 125568). Punches - 1 3/4" Scalloped Circle (119854) and Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer (122464). The Perfect Polka Dots Textured Embossing folder (117335) gave the Crumb Cake strip some more "pop". I colored the mushrooms with my blender pens and the residual ink from the Wisteria Wonder and Pear Pizzazz ink pads. The finishing touch is a little pearl from the Basic Pearls set (119247).

Mo's Try Something NEW Challenge #125

Good Morning and Happy Sunday! Today I am entering this card in Mo's DSP Try Something NEW Challenge.  There's lots of new things I haven't tried yet so I was excited to participate in this challenge.  I'm a Jump In with Both Feet kind of Gal when I decide to go for something, as you'll see. So here's my new (I tried to highlight in case you don't wish to read through all this):
** New Products: 1) SU's Adorning Accent Edgelit Dies and coordinating Textured Impressions Embossing Folders and 2)Daffodil Delight Seam Binding ribbon.  I pre-ordered these new dies in December but was somewhat intimidated by them.  Every time I pulled them out of the envelope I would look at them and tuck them right back in.  I was afraid to use these delicate pieces and thought it would be hard to use them.  With the "Try Something NEW"aspect I told myself "This is a great challenge to get you using these.  Just get with it girl!"  And guess what?  They were quite easy to use. The first cut was the easiest to do.  Just cut first then use the embossing folder to give it a nice raised edge.  The second cut (the blue DP) was a bit trickier in terms of lining up - but the trick I figured out was to make my piece larger than I needed (width wise) so I could cut down to fit after (and straighten my edge a little).  SU's new Daffodil Delight Seam Binding ribbon which will be available for purchase soon. Love the bright cheery color and the way it coordinates with the sunshine in my DSP.
** A Triple Layered Sentiment.  I been wanting to stretch myself to use more layers while staying true to my mostly clean and simple style.   I made the triple layered sentiment using two different punches.
**New Copics techniques.  I'm still pretty new to using my Copics and these are some new things for me that  I incorporated.  I used the "dotting" technique (not sure that is the proper term in the crafting world :o) ) for the feed on the ground.  I was nervous about coloring blond hair, was afraid it might come out too yellow. And finally, colored pearls.  These started out white but I wanted them to pick up the color of the feed on the ground so I used my YR24 Copic Marker to color them.  Wasn't sure if it would rub off - but it seems to be permanent.  I was really pleased with how this all came to together and glad I tried it.  Here's a close up of my coloring:

You can find this darling little girl and her chicks on Mo's Digital Pencil Shop.  She reminds me of my little blond headed girl right after she got her first haircut.  She had a pair of pink bib overalls that we dressed her in constantly - so sweet!

I hope you saw something today that inspired  you.  I love to share and spark creativity.  Thanks for stopping by!  Here's the inside too (another thing I am working on doing more of)...
