One Sketch - Two Cards - Two Different Looks: 52CCT February Sketch Challenge

Hello friends - happy weekend and happy February! A brand new month and some new challenges from 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown.  We also have some new DT members this month. So excited to have them!  Please go say "hello" to each of these lovely ladies.

The first week of the month for 52CCT is a sketch challenge and we have a fun one for you this week that has lots of possibilities for your creativity.  You can flip the sketch and use any shape for the oval. Just make sure we can still see the basic sketch in your creation.
As soon as I saw this sketch my brain went right to washi tape for the strips in the sketch.  I also had a couple extra die cut ornaments in silver foil that I thought might be a good substitute for the oval shape.

The only washi tape I had to go with this silver was a bit unconventional for the so I really had to think about how to make this work.  I decided to use the traditional A2 card size (4 1/4" x 5 1/2") instead of square.

Here's what I came up with (a very non-traditional color combo):

I was happy with how it turned out, but then... I was shopping at Staples this afternoon and came across a wall display of all kinds of new washi tape - ooohhh heaven.  I had a terrible time deciding which two to narrow it down to but finally snatched up a silver and gold.  Here's the second, more traditional with lots of bling, using the silver washi tape and another silver foil die cut ornament: - take a look:
This card uses 3 different textures with the silver, there's the super shiny (ornament), the glittery (brads and snowflake) and the mat-finish (the washi tape and sentiment).  Kind of hard to photograph - but it's really lovely IRL.  This is my favorite of the two cards :o).

I'm entering the first card (black/silver/green) in the 4 Crafty Chicks Challenge #179 Anything Goes and Crazy Egg (4CCC#179)

I'm entering the second card (blue/silver) in the following challenges:
Merry Monday #93 - Ornaments

Twisted Tuesday Challenges #68 - Gimme a "T-A-P-E" - Use washi tape and something that begins with a T, A, P or E.  My E is embossing.
Holly Jolly Christmas Challenge - Silver & Blue Christmas
and
Festive Friday #24 (FFC24) - Photo Inspiration - Ornaments and glitter is what inspired me in the photo.

Thanks so much for stopping by to visit me today.  I sure hope that you will consider joining us this week at 52CCT. Please go visit my lovely DT teamies and see what they've made to share with and inspire you too.
Til next time...hugs and happy crafting! D

Cool and Cozy Valentine Love

Hello friends, hope that each of you is doing well.  I didn't sleep well last night - tossed and turned and couldn't shut off my over active brain.  As a result, today my eyes are stingy and very tired. So a very quick post from me tonight to share a card for a couple of challenges.  I've had these image colored up for a few days now but didn't have a chance to finish my card until tonight.  Take a look please:
These darling mugs were a freebie that I grabbed from the TAWS blog.  Quickly colored them up using colors from the BIC Challenge photo inspiration (see below) and fussy cut them. I used my new die cuts from Stampin Up! (now available) for the word bubbles.  Happy with how it turned out and lovin' the colors. A non-traditional valentine, but a fun one just the same :o)

I would like to enter my card in the following challenges:
Be Inspired Challenge #46 (BIC46)

and
Inspired by... #104 - Cool and Cozy (cool blues and cozy mug of cocoa)

Hope you enjoyed my card and thanks so much for stopping by today. Til next time...hugs and happy crafting! D

Sending My Love - ATSM Challenge #80 {Photo Inspiration}

OOPS - a little late with getting my blog post done today for my DT card at Addicted to Stamps and More! Somehow the last couple of days have snuck up behind me and swept my feet right out from under me - good gracious.

Anyway...enough complaining about my tardiness, time to share another card with your for the current challenge at ATS&M.  ATSM#80 is a Photo Inspiration - take a look:
You can take any aspect you want from this photo - the colors, the hearts, the theme (Valentine's day), the candy, the stripes - totally up to you.  I immediately gravitated toward the purple, orange and pink colors and decided to make a Valentine's day card using a new digi from our fabulous challenge sponsor Deedee's Digis.

Our sponsor generously provided us with some digital images to use this month. But as I was out crusing the store site I came across the January Digi of the Month and just had to purchase it.  Here's my card using the January Digi of the Month -  "Sending My Love":

The finished card size is 5 1/2" square.  I used one of the sentiments from the set for the tag that is tucked behind the main image.  Here's a couple views of the tag:

Of course I still left a panel inside to write a longer message. I sprinkled a few more of those tiny pink hearts on the inside panel too :o).  I've decided though that I now need a tag die or punch to make fancier tags as I really like this idea (thinking Christmas too).

I'm entering my card in the following three challenges:
The Paper Players #180 (PPA180) where I got the great sketch (as you can see, I flipped it)

City Crafter Challenge Week #196 - Lovey Dovey (Valentine)
and
I hope that you will decide to join us this week at ATS&M for Challenge #80 - Photo Inspiration. Please go visit the rest of my lovely DT members and see what they have made for you as well.  This is Karen's last week as Guest Designer.  We have really enjoyed having her with us! Thanks Karen xxoo

Til next time friends...hugs and happy crafting! D

Sami Stamps Challenge #009 - Warm Winter Wishes

Hello friends! A lovely day here in Montana.  The snow we got from the other day is mostly gone and is just now crisp and cold - but at least the sun is out.  Gonna go do some running around soon while it's nice out, but before I go I'd like to share a card with you that I made a while back to send to my DT buddy Nonni for Christmas.

Through Nonni I was introduced to the lovely digital images from Sami Stamps (she made some amazing cards with these images), so I thought it would be perfect to use one for her card.  Cutting it to the wire, but I'd like to enter this card in the Sami Stamps Challenge #009.  Take a look please:

It looks as if she is perched on the edge of a snowy slope to me :o) Quite a lovely winter sprite she is.  I used a faux patina panel behind the image for a bit of extra interest.  Sami has some lovely winter images that I couldn't resist.  Hope you like it!

Thanks so much for stopping by to visit.  Off to do my shopping and errands in the lovely cold winter day.  When I get back I'm going to do a little internet shopping for the new Reading digis that Sami Stamps just put out - be still my heart.  Gotta run for now.  Til next time friends...hugs and happy crafting! 52CCT - January Stash Challenge {Double Embossing}, MOJO Monday 329 {sketch}, Merry Monday #92 {Colors w/Ribbon}, The Card Concept 2, Festive Fridays {Photo Inspiration} & Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge Extra - Anything Goes

Hello friends - happy weekend!! Time for another challenge at 52CCT. This week our challenge is to use two types of embossing - heat and dry.  I'm a huge fan of texture on cards and use dry embossing quite a lot.  I don't as often do the heat embossing though as I'm usually crafting at night when everyone else is in bed.  They don't much like to be woken up to the sound of my heat gun :o)  What a silly family I have!

So I made my DT card earlier in the evening to oblige them - lol.  Take a look:
All supplies from Stampin' Up!
Ink and paper colors: Crumb Cake, Cherry Cobbler, Early Espresso, Very Vanilla (sounds like a dessert doesn't it?)

First I embossed the star with Early Espresso and heat set it.  Then I stamped the JOY over that with Cherry Cobbler ink and embossing powder and heat set again. Heat embossing gives things such a nice subtle sheen.  I sponged some crumb cake ink around the edges of everything to add a bit of distressing.  My dry embossing is from a retired snowflake embossing folder (one of my favorites).

For additional inspiration, I used the sketch from MOJO Monday 329
the Colors w/Ribbon challenge at Merry Monday #92.
The Card Concept Challenge #2 Use Texture (my first time here thanks to Sue for the link).
Style = Vintage
Festive Friday FFC23 (also my first time thanks to Sue) with this photo inspiration
and
Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge Extra - January "Anything Goes"

I'm really happy with how this turned out.  Lately I've been making a lot of "cute" cards so it was a nice change of pace to make a vintage card.

I hope that you will decide to play along with us this week at 52CCT.  The rest of the DT have made some gorgeous cards to inspire you as well.  Please go visit them and leave a little love.  Thanks so much for stopping by to visit me today. Til next time...hugs and happy crafting! D

Bugaboo 4th Birthday Bash - Day #7 Friday Freebie w/ Four, CFC126: Color Blocks and cQc #225

Hello friends.  I have reached the end of the week long Bugaboo 4th Birthday Bash at the Catch the Bug Challenge Blog.   Thanks so much to many of you for coming by my blog each day and leaving me such very nice comments on my cards!  It really made my day to read them all.  Surprisingly I managed to make a card for each day of the challenge and now I have a few more fund cards for my stash.

So for this last challenge in the Bugaboo's Birthday Bash  series, Day #7 is Freebie/Theme.  They wanted to see us use something in fours in addition to the Friday Freebie digi.   As soon as I got home from work I quickly downloaded this fun free image and got busy coloring so that I could make the challenge before it closed.  My element of 4 is the four color blocks.    Here's what I came up with - please take a look:
Details: Cardstock from Stampin' Up -
Cherry Cobbler, Always Artichoke, Calypso Coral, Chocolate Chip and Whisper White.
Digital image - freebie (1/24/14) from Bugaboo colored with copic markers
Extras - texture folder and candy dots (SU) for the cherries on the cupcakes

I kept this one quite CAS using a color blocking technique.  The finished card size is 5 1/2 inches square.
My daughter walked in the room as I was taking the photo and said "oh Mom that's really a cute card".  I love hearing that from her.  Usually she is my biggest cheerleader, but sometimes she can also be my most honest critic :o)

I'm also entering my card in the CAS-ual Fridays Challenge where they want to see color blocking

and colourQ #225 where I got these fun colors to use
That concludes my short and sweet blog for tonight. Thanks for letting me share my crafty creations with you today and all week.  Til next time...hugs and happy crafting! D

Playing Cupid - PP179 (One Layer Valentine), ATCAS "New" and My Time to Craft Challenge #231

Hello.  Valentine's day is generally not my favorite holiday (but I do love the colors and heart shapes). I tend to go more with funny rather than serious or mushy valentine's cards.

The Paper Players Challenge #179 is to make a one-layer valentine.
I had recently purchased this funny digital image (Bugaboo) so what perfect timing for me.  One-layer cards are generally not my fort'e but I thought I'd give it a go just the same. Take a look:
I'm actually quite happy with how this turned out.  I LOVE that bright pink (it's one of my favorite colors) and check out that bright blue eye shadow on Stella - very classy (and actually very trendy again).  I thought about giving this card to my husband (something for him to look forward to in future years - LOL) but then decided that it will be a good card to send my Grandma.  This totally fits her sense of humor and I'm sure she'll get a good chuckle out of it. Kind of reminds me of her in her heyday - especially the hair ;o)

I am also entering my card in these other challenges:
Addicted to CAS - "New".
My "new" is the digital image and the tiny pink hearts from a new SU set.
My Time to Craft Challenge #231 -  All about the LOVE

So that's it for me tonight.  I need to get to bed earlier (stayed up way, way too late last night crafting). Thanks so much for stopping by and visiting me today.  Til next time...hugs and happy crafting! D

Bugaboo 4th Birthday Bash Day #6 - Card for a Kid, Retrosketches, Alphabet Challenge - Y for Young kids & 4CC #178 {Bling}

Hi again ;o) - here's the card I made for the Bugaboo 4th Birthday Bash.  The challenge for Day #6 is to make a birthday project that is suitable for kids.  Here's what I came up with for a son of my special friend who LOVES music.
Here's a close up to see the bling on the glasses, stars, and guitar a bit better.  I punched out some extra stars and popped them up for a bit more dimension and extra rockstar bling.
Details: Cardstock  and glitter paper by Stampin' Up!,  Patterned paper by Close to my Heart (Superhero).
Digital image by Bugaboo Digis - "Rock Star Boy" colored with copic markers.
Extras: Stickles in red and gold (stars and guitar) and black (glasses)

I'm also entering my card at Retrosketches #98 where I got the layout for my card (I flipped it on the edge),
and another entry (hope I haven't exceeded my limit) at the Alphabet Challenge - Y for Young Kids
and Divas by Design - Anything Goes

Thanks to all these great challenges for the inspiration to help me make and share my card :O) and thank you for taking the time to stop by and visit me today.  Til tomorrow... for the last day of the week long challenge at Bugaboo's 4th Birthday Bash, hugs and happy crafting! D

Bugaboo Birthday Bash Day #5 - Humor me Wednesday

Hi again friends, here's another card I made last night for the Bugaboo 4th Birthday Bash - Day #5 Humor me Wednesday.  What fun I've been having this week making birthday cards.  I won't get too wordy since this is my 2nd post for tonight and just let my card speak for itself:
Details: all paper supplies from Stampin' Up!
Digital image - Bugaboo digis - FIstella belly button - colored with copic markers
Extras: Sizzix framelits by Stampin Up - Secret Garden dies and candy dots

Hopefully you laughed out loud and were not offended!  Inside it says "Just Sayin'..."  I know exactly who this card is going to on  her birthday but I'm not saying as she occasionally visits my blog to see what I've been up to int he crafty arena. This is one of those times that I must say I'm glad to be a small chested woman :o)  I'm just sayin...

Til next time...hugs and happy crafting! D

Birthday Fishes for Bugaboo's 4th Birthday Bash Day #4 - Bling it Up, 4CC #178 { Bling} and Seize the Birthday - Coloring

Hello friends! I'm continuing to make birthday cards for the Bugaboo 4th Birthday Bash Week long challenge.  I stayed up later than I probably should have last night coloring my little heart out.  Paid for it a bit today when it came time to get out of bed - oh my aching head, but I sure had fun!  Coloring is such great therapy when I can't be outside soaking up some sun (well...I could be outside, but it's too cold for me - hehe).

Anyway... back to the purpose of this post.  Bugaboo's Birthday Bash Challenge Day #4 is "New Release Tuesday/Bling it Up".  I chose a fun image and added some sparkle using Stickles to the candle flame and the fish, and some clear "blingy" bubbles - take a look:
Details: all paper supplies by Stampin' Up!
digital image by Bugaboo Digis - birthday fishes - colored with copic markers
Extras: Stickles in yellow & orange, spica glitter markers (candle), clear bubbles (stash)

This card could really be for any age person.  I love the funny pucker on this fishes face.  MAWH!  Or maybe it's an "Oy - I've already celebrated too much!" type of expression.

I'm also entering my card in the 4Crafty Chicks Challenge #178 {Bling}, and in the Seize the Birthday Challenge - Toppings option of Coloring (my favorite thing to do).

Gonna keep this post short and sweet as I have two or three more to do tonight - yep, really did stay up WAYYY too late last night :o).  Thanks so much for stopping by to visit me. Til next time...hugs and happy crafting! D

CAS for ATS&M#79

Hi -thanks for popping in to visit me today! Time for another weekly challenge at Addicted to Stamps and More! (ATS&M).  Our wonderful sponsor again this week is...

We are also pleased to have another Guest Designer with us for the next two weeks - Karen M who has been inducted into our Wall of Fame for being a regular contestant of the ATS&M Challenge. Welcome Karen!

I have made a card for the ATS&M Challenge #79 - CAS using an image and sentiment from Deedee's Digis called "Make a Joyful Noise".
Really quite tickled with how it turned out. Hope you like it too!

I fussy cut around the image and used an extra negative die piece that I've had laying on my desk 4-ever - really, I do mean forEVER.  Although I've not made any official New Year's resolutions this year, I am making a conscientious effort to use up some of those bits and piece that I keep on my craft desks.  The overall card size is a big larger than normal - 4 1/2 by 6 1/2, so I made my own envelope to go with it using my envelope punch from Stampin Up! Not only does it help you make envelopes in a snap - it's also a great way to use up some of your paper stash (admit it - we all have some of that :o) ).

So what do you think about this color combo?  I really like it!  It was kind of an unexpected surprise when I put it together.  If you like this digi - you should go check out sponsor's website (details on the ATS&M challenge site).  You have the chance to win 3 free sets of your choice if you are chosen as the TOP Addict for the CAS challenge. How nice is that?

The rest of my lovely teamies have also made some amazing creations to share with and inspire you.  I hope you will go visit them and leave a little love while your there.  Til next time...hugs and happy crafting! D

Bugaboo 4th Birthday Celebration Day #3 - Color challenge, Sweet Stampin' Challenge - Favorite Style, Seize the Birthday - Coloring & MIM175

Hi again. Third and final post for me today. My goodness, I can't remember a time when I've done that :o) Thanks for coming by once more to visit me.  If you've seen my other two posts you are now aware that I'm participating in Bugaboo's 4th Birthday Celebration week long challenges.  While the boys were watching football (a disappointing showing by the NE Patriots) I was in my craft room having a blast working on my birthday card stash.

My card today is for Day#3 of the Bugaboo Birthday Bash which is a Color challenge - take a look:

Oh boy...I LOVE this color combo - so bright and fun!  Here's the card I made using it:
Details: paper supplies by Stampin' Up!
digital image - flower bunch vase by Bugaboo colored with copic markers
sentiment stamp - from my stash drawer (can't remember where I got it or who the maker is).
Extras: pink sparkle dots - Close to My Heart

No one in mind for this card yet - but super psyched to have one to put in the box for when I need one. I seem to be a bit low on birthday cards lately.

In addition to the Bugaboo 4th Birthday Bash Day#3 I'm entering my card in these challenges:
Sweet Stampin' Challenges - "Your Favorite Style".  My favorite style is coloring in cute images with my copic markers. I also like to mix digital images with hand stamped images and a little bling :o).
Seize the Birthday - Anything Goes - Topping option "Coloring" (my second entry)

and
Make It Monday #175 (my second entry) with Bugaboo Stamps.

Ok so that's it for today :o).  Thanks so much for visiting. I hope liked what you saw and that you'll be back to visit again. Til next time friends....hugs and happy crafting! D

Bugaboo 4th Birthday Challenge - Day #2,Sentimental Sundays #190,Seize the Birthday - Coloring, MIM#175

Hello again friends :o).  I have another fun card to share for the Bugaboo 4th Birthday Challenge - Day#2 - Brithday Celebration Sketch.  First take a look at the sketch:

And here's my card using it:
Details: All paper products from Stampin' Up!
Digital image from Bugaboo "attitude car" colored with copic markers
Extras: self adhesive pink bling from Close to My Heart.
NEW Sizzlit framelits "Sunburst" from Stampin' Up!

I had lots of fun with this sketch adding the elements and layers. Seems I've been in a CAS mode lately (who would have ever thought I'd say that) with my necessity to get things done.  It also gave me a chance to use some more of my DP stash and a brand new Sunburst die.  I'm actually quite pleased with myself as I am months ahead (for a change) with this card.  It will go to my cousin in August.  She had a VW Bug for her first card as a teenager - and has one now as an adult too.   Her's was yellow, but I thought the blue was fun.
In addition to the Bugaboo Birthday Bash Day 2, I am also entering my card at:
Sentimental Sundays (my second entry) - Challenge #190 "More than 3 Layers" (plus a sentiment).
Seize the Birthday - Anything Goes - Topping option "Coloring"

and
Make It Monday #175 with Bugaboo Stamps

I also made a card for the Bugaboo Birthday Bash Day #3 - stay tuned for a separate post :o).  Thanks so much for stopping by friends. Til next time...hugs and happy crafting! D

Bugaboo Birthday Bash - Day #1 - Birthday Bingo, Sentimental Sunday #190, Make it Monday#175, Alphabet Challenge - Y is for Young People

Hello friends and followers - Happy Monday! Oy...how does it get to be Monday so fast?  Are the weekend days shorter than the other days of the week?  I'm starting to think so :o)

Last night  I made 3 fun cards for the Bugaboo 4th Birthday Celebration as I have lots of the digital images that I haven't used, I need more birthday cards for my stash AND they are offering great prizes. Lots of incentive to pull out my markers and get to coloring :o). I'll show you the other two cards in separate posts.

Day 1 of the Bugaboo 4th Birthday Celebration is a Bingo Challenge - take a look:
And here's what I made using the diagonal of Bugaboo Image, FREE and Ribbon (just a wee bit):
Details: All paper supplies from Stampin' Up
Digital image from Bugaboo "flowerlb" colored with copic markers

All said and done, I'm happy with this card, but had a couple "challenges" of my own with completing it :o).  I didn't intend to have such a bright blue background but half way through my shading my very lightest BG0000 copic ran out of juice  - oops.  The next closest color I had was B00, so I grabbed it.  It looks like the sky background, I guess.  I also didn't intend to have spots but when I pulled the cap off my W7 marker to fill in some more shading on this cut bug's body the ink just shot out :o(  Oh well...I kind of like the spots now, gives it some character. I have a young niece with a birthday coming up soon - this will be perfect for her cute self.

In addition to the Bugaboo Birthday Celebration Day #1, I am entering my card in the following challenges:
Sentimental Sundays (my first time there) - Challenge #190 "More than 3 Layers" (plus a sentiment).
Make It Monday #175 with Bugaboo Stamps
and
Alphabet Challenge (my first time there) - "Y for Young card" for a little one.

Well that's it for this post. Thanks for letting me share with you today. Stay tuned for the other two cards. Til next time..hugs and happy crafting! D

January Recipe challenge - 52CCT, ABC Christmas Challenge - "A", CCAYR - January Challenge

Hello - made it to the weekend (seemed like a long stressful week to me) and now it's time for another January challenge at 52CCT.  This week we have a recipe challenge for you.  Before I show you the details of the challenge please take a look at the card I made using the recipe:

And here's the recipe I used.

Isn't this little guy just the cutest? I think this might be my very last piece of that darker purple paper.  I actually had the embossed piece sitting on my desk from another scrapped project.  That was my inspiration for the color to use in the monochromatic scheme.  I think this penguin looks darling in purple. Don't you think so too?

I really struggled with where to put my ribbon and still keep it CAS.  Finally decided to tuck a couple pieces in at the edge.  I'm almost embarrassed to say how long I fussed around with that one aspect.  CAS doesn't always mean quick in my case - LOL.  But I do like how it turned out - finally :o).

I'm also entering my card in the following challenges:
ABC Christmas Challenge - 'A" is for Anything Christmas'
Christmas Cards All Year Round - January Challenge, Anything Goes Christmas

So glad that you came by to visit me today.  I hope that you will go visit the rest of our team at 52CCT and see what they have made as well.  We have a couple new DT members starting this week.  How lucky for us :o)  Hope to see your wonderful Christmas card(s) in the gallery this week. Til next time friends...hugs and happy crafting! D

Chillin' with my Snowmies - PP178. MM91 and MOJO328

Hello friends - a quick evening post and then off to bed I go to get my beauty rest.  I'm so glad that tomorrow is Friday - whoot whoot! No big plans - just looking forward to chillin' with my children and a little crafting time (if I'm lucky).  Anyway, I've been rolling this card around in my head for a few days now but hadn't had time to get it all together til tonight - please take a look:
I saw the color challenge from LeAnne at The Paper Players and was just instantly in love with that vibrant combo.  LeAnne has spring in mind but I immediately thought of bright colored scarves, hats and mittens. I guess spring still seems too far away for me and I'm in winter mode. Here's the great colors from PP178.

Lucky for me the Merry Monday Challenge #91 is to use a snowman or snowpeople on a Christmas card. So I quickly decided that these colors would make a terrific non-traditional Christmas card.  Love me some snowman with bright happy colors!
Once I had the colors and the image in mind, I needed a great sketch to finish the card.  Its been quite a while since I've played along with the MOJO Monday challenge so I decided to try that.  Here's the sketch (MOJO328):
So there you have it - done, done and done :o)  Really happy with how it turned out. Hope you like it too and thanks for popping in to visit me today and see my card.  Til next time...hugs and happy crafting! D

Hi and thanks so much for stopping by!  This week we have a challenge for you that gives you lots of room to be choosy - you get to choose any Holiday to make a card for.  ATSM Challenge #78 is our newest challenge theme called Holiday - Father's day, Easter, Christmas, 4th of July, Thanksgiving, St. Patty's Day, Valentine's day - I'm guessing you got it by now so I'll stop rambling :o)

Once again our fabulous sponsor for this challenge is Deedee's Digis who is offering our Top Addict their choice of 3 sets of digis (so nice!).
I've used one of the chilly sponsor images and turned it a card that will warm someone's heart for Valentine's Day.  Take a look:

I used the sketch from Unscripted Sketches #238 so am entering my card in that challenge.
sketch238

What holiday will you choose this week?  I hope you will decide to play along with ATSM#78 - Holiday.  Please go check out the wonderful holiday creations that the rest of the DT have made to share with and inspire.  I promise that you'll be glad that you did :o)
