Super Dad - Father's Day {SugarPea Designs}

Hello friends!  Happy Father's Day weekend.
We celebrated with a BBQ and ice cream
with my Dad, husband and brother in law today.
It was a wonderful summery evening
and the food was good!

Here's a photo of one of my sisters and I
with my sweet Daddy-O
(my other sweet sister is in Oregon).
Isn't he cute?!
He really is my Super hero - always has been.
We didn't have the easiest relationship when
I was young.  Let's just say I was a little
bit headstrong and maybe a bit too much like him :o)
He told me once that he always knew what I was
up to because "he was me once".
As I've gotten older and had kids of my own
I've come to appreciate him so much more.
He is an honest, kind and loving man.
I do hope I'm a lot like him!

I made this card for my dear Daddy
using a stamp set by SugarPea Designs
called "my hero" which is perfect for him.

Kraftin' Kimmie Challenges #336 - Flowers

Hello everyone! Welcome to the weekend and another
fun theme challenge at KRAFTIN' KIMMIE!
Our hostess this week is Krafty Girl Alexis
and her challenge theme for us is...FLOWERS!
The criteria are pretty easy for this one  - as long as we can see flowers
somewhere on your creation you are qualified to link up your entry
(you can have flowers on the paper, on ribbon, in or on the image,
or added flowers as an embellishment).  Easy peasy right?!

I used two beautiful summery stamps on my card today

I began by masking the flowers and heat embossing the
stamped images on a panel of watercolor paper and
then directly dabbing my mini distress ink pads
on the stamped/embossed images (using the corners of
the pads and dotting within the image with large and small
dabs - trying not to completely fill in the image).
Then I spritzed the panel with water to let the colors
blend a little but the watercolor paper I used is very
heavily textured and the colors didn't spread out as much
as I anticipated that they would so I used a brush
and added more water to blend out the inks some more.
As a last touch I added some pretty sequins.
Do you supposed I get bonus points for having the
word "Flowers" on my card? :o)
I'm really happy with how it turned out!  Hope you like it too!

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:
613 Avenue Create - Challenge #180 "Anything Goes w/twist
of Create Your Own Challenge"
I chose A2 card type , with Thinking of You/Encouragement
for the event and watercolor and sequins for the trends.
I used flowers, image (butterflies) and Summer theme
(I think it could also qualify for Sentiment, Flowers, Leaves)

Stamping Sensations - June Challenge "Feature a Creature"
Cute Card Thursday Challenge #430 - Little Bugs/Butterflies

Now it's your turn to create a card, scrapbook page or altered item
with a Kraftin' Kimmie Stamp or any other stamp and be sure to use
our THEME as a starting point for your creation!
We always enjoy your creations so be sure to submit them
for a chance to WIN a $20 gift card to the Shop!
You have until June 24th at 11:55 pm EST to get your entries in.
Have some krafty fun and join us this week and show us your stuff!

Don't forget to check out Kimmie's brand spankin' new
store website and the Frugal Friday specials this weekend.

Sketch Saturday #417

Hello friends and followers!
It's time for a new sketch to inspire you
This week the challenge is sponsored by
and here is Sketch #417
I really like this one! I've used it on
about 3 cards over the past 3 days.
You can really dress it up or keep it clean and
simple.  You can also flip the orientation for
a whole new look.  I think its an awesome sketch.

Here's what I made with Sketch #417 this week:

My daughter just finished her sophomore year of high school.
She wanted to give each of her teachers  a thank you card.
This one was for her math teacher (her hair even looks like
that in real life lol).  I can't believe she is going to be a
Junior (sniff, sob).  How does that happen so fast?
Oh well, it's how it's supposed to be but sometimes
it's hard on a mama's heart!

I'd like to enter this in the following challenges:
Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenges #282 - Anything Goes
The Alphabet Challenge Blog - H is for Hand coloured Image
Crafty Hazelnut's Patterned Paper June 2016 Challenge - A.G.

I hope that you will go visit the blogs of the ladies
from the Sketch Saturday team and our guest
designer Alexis Crossland-Smith too - they love to
have visitors just like me!!  Then, after you have
gotten all kinds of inspiration for the sketch
go get crafty and link up your own fab creation!
Til next time...hugs and happy crafting! D

Watermelon Wonder, Night of Navy & Mint Macron
and a sentiment from  Suite Sayings #140712 (clear)
or #140709 (wood mount).
