MOJO Monday #253 {BOOOOO}

Hello friends, so happy you've stopped by to visit my blog today.  This week I am on a Halloween kick (don't suppose you've notice that with the past 3 posts - lol).  Once again the sketch at MOJO Monday is absolutely terrific and really did get my MOJO going.  The MOJO#253 sketch by Julee has a skewed orientation (so fun) and uses lots of shapes and layers that are just perfect for showcasing your patterned papers. Skewed orientations are great for those of us who can't seem to adhere and layer things in a straight and level manner :o)  - yet there are still very clean lines and lots of definition.  As if the sketch itself wasn't inspiring enough, I was blown away by the design team creations as well (you really should pop in there and see them - it will get your MOJO going I promise)! 



At first I wasn't too sure about this new DSP for halloween - but now that I have it I see how very versatile it is (and I do love it for halloween).  It can be used for fall, halloween, masculine and whimsical purposes as I've done here with my stamp and googly eyes.  Hope you like my card today and saw something that inspired you too.  Til next time - Hugs!

Supplies (all from Stampin Up!): Cardstock - Basic Black, Whisper White, Pumpkin Pie (note: Tangerine Tango coordinates super with this DSP too). DSP - Howlstooth & Scaringbone (#126906 -NEW in the SU Holiday Mini catalog).  Stamp - Googly Gouls (NEW in the SU Holiday Mini).  Eyes - Googlies (#127539 - come on a sheet of 50).   Black satin ribbon (retired).  Scalloped Circle punch 2 3/8" and Circle punch 1 3/4" were  used on this card as well.  

Another Card for the 52CCT August Sketch Challenge (and a Reminder)

Hello dear blogging friends - hope you are having a wonderful week.  I got my order in with the new products from the Stampin Up! Holiday mini catalog and have been having a blast creating with my new goodies (you've seen some of the Halloween samples already).  The August sketch challenge at 52{Christmas} Card Throwdown is still going on this week so I decided to use the sketch by fellow DT member Jacqueline to create another card to share with you along with this reminder. 

I substituted gingerbread men for the squares on my card.  These darling gingerbread men were created with the NEW Holiday Collection Framelit dies and the NEW coordinating Scentsational Season stamps (there is also a candy cane, Christmas tree, star and mug of cocoa with steam - soo cute!).  The DSP strip is also NEW and is called Snow Festival Designer Series Paper.  It has a wonderful whimsical/country feel to it.  I used the Sizzix Tasteful Trim Bigl XL die for the ric rac strips on my card.  Since I can't throw anything away (I save practically every little scrap) I used the outside part of the paper after I had cut the strip and cut it in half to put behind the DSP.  My hearts (substituted for the stars in the sketch) were punched out with a retired SU punch.  I added the sparkly candy buttons on the gingy men with the Cherry Cobble Dazzling Details glue.  Oh... and I almost forgot - the sentiment is from the Polar Party set.

Spooky Creepy Crawly for Retrosketches #23 and Dynamic Duos #14

Happy Tuesday!  It's been awhile since I've been able to participate in the Retrosketches challenge but this weeks sketch was one I just couldn't pass up - Retrosketches #23 (see below).  The inspiration for my colors comes from the Dynamic Duos Challenge #14 - Bold and Sassy combo.

I got these new stamp sets just a couple days ago from the Stampin Up Holiday mini catalog and I've been dying to ink them up.  I colored the sentiment stamp and the cute little googly eyed characters with my Pumpkin Pie and Wild Wasabi SU markers.  I made my own patterned paper by stamping the sentiment several times on the two rows (my first attempt was very crooked so the second time I drew a very thin pencil line across my paper to keep the words straighter).  I snipped out the cute little spider and let him drop down from the web.  So what do you think of these cute little googly eyes?  Aren't they just the bomb!! I'm wishing I had ordered more myself as I've already used up about half of the sheet (hint... you'll probably see some more of these in my other posts coming soon).   I chose to leave some eyes are they are and to add the googlies to the others.  Not sure who those two little eyes belong to above the words - maybe its the invisible man.  Here's a closer look:

Supplies (all from Stampin Up!):  Cardstock - Whisper White, Wild Wasabi and Pumpkin Pie.  Stamps - Border Banter (words) and Googly Gouls (characters) with some Googlies (eyes - come in a sheet of 50).  The textured background is a textured embossing folder called Spider Web folder.  I used the Finishing Touches Edgelits for the border around my word strip.  The postage stamp and 1" square punches were used for each of the characters.
