Bugaboo Stamps Catch the Bug Challenge - Stella Says Sketch Challenge #133 {Happy 22nd Anniversary Hubby}

Hello dear friends and followers! Today is my 22nd anniversary and I am entering the card I made for my hubby using a digi from Bugaboo Stamps in the  Bugaboo Stamps Catch the Bug Challenge Blog  - Stella Says Sketch Challenge #133 (see sketch below).  This is the first time I've entered this challenge.
I printed the digital image a bit bigger than I planned so I made my card a 5 1/4" square card and had to do a tad of interpretation of the sketch - but it's pretty close.  Here's my card using the Stella sketch:

As soon as I saw this digi of Stella and Gus by Bugaboo Stamps I just knew I had to make an anniversary card with it. My DH laughed when he saw it but said "geeze I hope that isn't what I look like".  I said "well, I would say not because that would mean I look like Stella and I certainly don't have those ta tas " I'll point out that after 22 years he was smart enough just to smile and not confirm that fact :o).  However, I did remind him that maybe by anniversary #50 we might be closer to that picture and it may not be so funny then :o)  I colored our slippers like the ones we actually have - mine are sheepskin and his are memory foam in a dark blue.  Other than that the similarities end rather quickly... for now.

Here the inside of my card (this sentiment comes with the digi):
Last year I made a really sweet and sappy mini-memory book of our first 21 years together.  No mushy stuff this year - just a good laugh (and a teensy tiny bit of truth - hehe).

Well, that's it for me for tonight - those two glasses of wine with dinner have now worn off ( I was feeling a bit tipsy for a bit) and I am ready to go to bed and sack out (probably snore loudly too).  Not very romantic I know - but oh well :o) :o)

Thanks for stopping by and visiting me - I love that you do :o)  Til next time...hugs and happy crafting. D

Anything But A Card Goes for 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown

Hello dear blog friends and followers!  I must apologize that my post for this week's challenge at 52CCT is a little late.  This past week for me was a crazy one and I felt absolutely exhausted each night when I got home which did not help my crafty MOJO at all.  Lately I've been preparing my DT cards and posts the night of as I haven't had a solid weekend to play in my craft room for weeks. Can't wait to get caught up again as I hate being late with the things I enjoy the most.  So, oh well, enough of my moaning and on to what I prepared to share with you this week for the "Anything But a Card (ATC or tag) Goes"  Challenge at 52CCT.   I made this scrapbook page using the Stampin Up! My Digital Studio software program.  I must confess that I am not a digital genius by any stretch of the imagination but am wanting to use it more for a variety of projects, so am starting to practice more with it.

This is my darling niece and her dog Harley from this past Christmas. Pretty sweet - huh? Harley is a poser - he loves to have his picture taken.

What will you prepare to share with us this week at 52CCT? Remember we want to see your special creations that week that are anything but a card, tag or ATC - we are stretching your creativity and can't wait to see what you come up with.  Please pop on  over to the 52CCT site and see what the other lovely ladies on the DT have made for your inspiration.  I've already checked it out and am a bit embarrassed that my project is so simple compared to the fabulous things they have come up with.

Til next time... hugs and Happy Crafting. D

ABC Challenges #22 - Easter & 4CCC #135 - Easter

Hello dear friends and blog followers - Happy Friday and Happy (almost) Easter.  Is it just me or did Easter kind of sneak up on us?   My how time flies...happens as we get older, I'm afraid.   I get the honor this week of sharing another card with you as a reminder that there is still time to join in on the ABC Challenges #22 - Easter (ABC22).  Here's what I've prepared to share with, and inspire you:
I decided to go with a more traditional Easter card this time.  I had this negative image sitting on my desk from a recent card and it looked like the perfect frame to use around this cross.  I also spotted the pierced oval cut-out on my desk and decided to add it around the image as well.  I really love the effect I got by layering these pieces.  I stamped the cross in Black and then colored in the flowers and leaves with watercolor pencils.  I had lots of these gorgeous flowers that I had been itching to use, so I added them around the framed image.  My Easter sentiment is on the inside instead of the front since I already have so much going on there.  I think this one will be hand delivered to my Grandma so that the flowers don't get all squished ;o)

I'm also entering this card in the 4 Crafty Chicks Challenge #135 - Easter since I've not been able to join them for a while.

Hope you like today's card and that I've inspired you to play along with us at ABC Challenges #22 - Easter.  I sincerely wish for each and every one of you to have a very blessed Easter.  Til next time...Hugs and Happy Crafting. D

Addicted to Stamps and More! - Addicted to Colors Challenge #38 {Regal Rose, Sahara Sand and Tempting Turquoise}

Hello dear friends and blog followers!  I have another Easter card to share with you for the ATS&M Addicted to Colors Challenge #38 {Regal Rose, Sahara Sand and Tempting Turquoise}.

I got this darling little stamp during a visit to a Hobby Lobby.  Oh My Goodness - have you ever been in one of those stores? It is an awesome experience for crafty people.  I'm actually glad that we don't have one of those stores locally, as I would spend too much money there. But it sure was fun to visit.  I really was almost overwhelmed after a bit as there was so much to look at and touch.  But then I spotted this darling chick stamp and in my basket it went - just too cute to pass up :o)  I literally could have spent hours in there but my husband and son started acting like monkeys until I couldn't ignore them anymore and had to leave (so sad - but probably best for my pocketbook). Those two ya-whos (my husband and son) have figured out how to get me out of a store when they've had enough by acting ridiculous. One time they wanted to get out of Target and were following me around with a Whoopie Cushion - ducking in and out of the aisles and laughing hysterically (can you just imagine?). I just kept ignoring them until people started looking at us all very strangely. Then I decided it was probably time to go - since we do go there quite often and it would be embarrassing to be kicked out by the management.  My daughter just starts complaining about her feet hurting - that's a little easier to tolerate, until she decides to just plunk herself in the middle of the aisle and whine for a "driving" cart (oh for crying out loud!).  I guess you can figure out why I usually avoid shopping with all of them as much as I can - lol!  It's a little better to take them grocery shopping as everyone splits up and takes a section of the list. The unfortunate part is we usually end up with quite a bit that wasn't on the list. :o)

So, back to the card for this week. I first stamped these cute little Chick-bunnies on Sahara Sand cardstock and colored the bunny ears with my Regal Rose and Tempting Turquoise ink and a blender pen.  I wasn't sure the colors would show up very true on the SS cardstock - but it turned out pretty good.  Then I fussy cut around the image to put on the rest of my card.  My mojo took a massive nosedive after my fussy cutting and I had a hard time deciding what else to do. It's such a bummer when your MOJO suddenly disappears!  I fussed around for a while trying to decide what to do - trying different patterned papers and embellishments, but nothing seemed to please me, so I ended up thinking I should just go the CAS route.  I pulled out an embossing folder to help give the big blank space some interest, and added a block of the blue to help the chicks stand out a bit more - ta da, Done! Whew :o)

Well - that is enough from me for today! I hope you enjoyed your visit here and will come back again.  I'd really love to see what you create this week for the ATS&M Addicted to Color Challenge #37 - so go get busy won't you??!  The other gals on the DT have prepared some wonderful inspiration for you this week. I hope you will go visit them too.

Til next time... Hugs and happy crafting! D

Easter wishes for ABC Challenges

Hello dear friends and blog followers - so happy that you've decided to stop in and visit me today.  Yesterday I hosted our monthly card group at my house - what a delight all of those ladies are! Each one of them is so special to me and I sincerely enjoy their company. I feel quite blessed to be part of such a wonderful and crafty group.  Last week I shared a card with you that I had made to exchange yesterday using "ugly" paper from one of the ladies - well, at least what the person exchanging it felt was "ugly".  My card for this week's challenge at ABC Challenges - "Easter" uses a second piece of paper that one of the gals gave me to use. She thought it was terribly ugly when she gave it to me - and terribly pretty when I showed it to her yesterday - hehehehe.  I was quite please with myself that she liked what I did with her ugly paper! Well, after all beauty is all in the eye of the beholder - but embellishments can certainly make a difference too in how beautiful something looks (kind of like adding earrings and a necklace for a special night out) :o).

I took that "ugly" paper she gave me and added a bottom layer of another piece of DSP that coordinated quite well with the orange in the carrots.  A little distressing around the edges of both layers added some dimension to it.  I inked the edges of the bottom layer with Early Espresso, and the carrot paper layer with Tangerine Tango.  Then I inked up my new single stamp "Ears to You" from Stampin Up! and used one of my favorite Sixxiz framelit die cut shapes for the main image (I'm kinda wishing I had done the middle bunny in orange - that would have been fun too).  Some more edge inking with the Tangerine Tango and then I popped it up with some dimension dots.  I added some flowers to cover a big blank area that didn't have any carrots on it and therefore looked out of balance to me.  I think those little green flowers look a bit like small cabbage plants that rabbits love to chomp on - don't you?  The main orange flower was originally a white paper daisy that I inked up with a finger dauber and some Tangerine Tango ink.  Loved how it turned out - and a perfect way to get everything to coordinate.

I have only made three Easter cards this year - may not have time to make many more.  It seems odd to me when Easter sneaks into March instead of April - kind of catches me by surprise and the weather still feels more like winter than spring when its that early in the year.

I hope you will decide to join us this week at ABC Challenges for our Easter themed challenge.  We had an amazing number of gorgeous entries last week for our Flower challenge.  I gotta tell you that I just love visiting your blogs so I can't wait to see what you come up with for Easter.  Please pop on over and visit the rest of the DT who have made some wonderful cards to share with you for inspiration.

Til next time... hugs and Happy crafting!! D

52CCT - Ribbons & Bows, Merry Monday #54, ABC Christmas - F is for Felt and MOJO Monday

Hello dear blog friends and followers - hope this post finds you all doing exceptionally well.  Time for another challenge over at 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown - whoo hoo!  I feel so lucky to be part of this design team as we have such a great team and I get the opportunity to make a Christmas card each week of the year.  I don't know about you, but I find it extremely hard to make myself purchase Christmas cards from a store when I know how much more special it feels to send someone a handmade card - and I know the recipients love it too.    By just making a card a week, by the time November rolls around I will have a great stash to send out to family and friends without the last minute stress of trying to make a bunch. LOVE it!!

So on to the challenge for this week.  Louise is the hostess for a couple more weeks and this week she has picked the theme of ribbons and bows.  Here's what I've prepared for your inspiration this week - hope you like it!
Now the inside:

I am entering this card in the following challenges which helped me with my inspiration:
ABC Christmas Challenges - F is for Felt or Fabric
Merry Monday #54 - Snowman Theme

Hope you will decide to pop on over to the 52CCT site and see what the other lovely ladies have made and then decide to link up your own gorgeous Christmas card creations using ribbons and bows!  Til next time... hugs and happy crafting!

Make Your Mark for Addicted to Stamps and More! Challenge #37

Hello friends and Happy Tuesday!  We have snow on the ground and its quite cold here today (about 22 degrees this morning) - so I decided that I needed to make something springy and colorful and happy for my card this week for this week's Addicted To Stamps & More challenge - "Make your Mark".  We want to see your crafty creations using markers of any kind.  This is one of my favorite challenges that we do because I get to play with my copic markers.  I've used a digital image from this weeks ATS&M challenge sponsor Clear Dollar Stamps for my card.

I used the new clouds embossing folder (from Stampin' Up) for the background - isn't it fun?!  Kept it CAS so that the image really pops.  I used to struggle with CAS but I can tell you that the more I do it - the better it feels. And...when you need to make a card fairly quickly, CAS is the way to go.  This card will be going to a dear lady who hasn't been feeling very well lately.  The inside says "get well soon".

Dashing off to work now so will be quick.  Thanks so much for stopping by and visiting me today - I'm sure glad that you did!  Please pop on over to ATS&M and visit the other gals on the DT. They've made some fabulous cards to share with you.  Remember to enter so you can win a fabulous prize from the sponsor. Can't wait to visit you and see what you've made.

Til next time...hugs and happy crafting! D

Animals, Sparkle and Bling and a Sketch - 52CCT, Merry Monday #53 and CCAYR

Hello dear friends and followers - a quick and short post tonight as I am exhausted!!! after a rough week at work and was rushing to get my card done in time for Louise's great Theme Challenge at 52CCT this week. Louise wants to see animals on your Christmas card - but she has specified "no birds". Well, this darling polar bear was my obvious choice this week as I just think he is quite cute! (note: I apologize for the terrible photo).

I'm also using the sketch from Merry Monday which inspired me to get this card together so very quickly and have added lots of sparkle and bling so that I can participate in the Christmas Cards All Year Round March Challenge - Sparkle & Bling.   Hope you like it and I do hope you will play along with us this week at 52CCT!  The gals on the DT have come up with some terrific inspiration for you.

Til next time.... Hugs and happy crafting!! D

Sketch Challenge #6 for Addicted to Stamps and More!

Hello dear friends and followers - especially to my newest follower, I'm so please to have you join me.  Time for another great challenge over at Addicted to Stamps and More! - a Sketch Challenge to be exact (see below).  Here's what I came up with to inspire you.  I took a little liberty with the sketch and used a different accent shape on my card (the crown and pins) instead of a circle.

Now the border on the bottom is also a slight interpretatino and was not supposed to initially be there. But I had a boo-boo that I needed to cover from trying to pull something up that I didn't like.  I didn't want to completely start over - so I improvised (please forgive me Kylie).  The basics of the sketch are still there - which is really our main requirement.  We do want you to use it for inspiration and make it your own to share with us - but we should still be able to see the sketch that we gave you.  Anyway... pop on over to the ATS&M site and see the gorgeous cards our fabulous DT members have come up with.  I just think they are all so amazing - so will you, I'm sure.

Here's a closer look at some of the details. I used a finger dauber to age the floral ribbon a bit. The pins are from my stash.  The sentiment is a part of a new set in the SU Spring Mini catalog called "Feel Goods". The paper is from a monthly card exchange group that I belong to . The challenge for this month is to use a piece of paper that someone else has brought and thinks is ugly - the "Ugly Paper Challenge".  I don't see a thing that is ugly about this paper - in fact I was quite pleased that I got it and hope that when I exchange it back - she will love it too.

Thanks so much for stopping by - I hope you will decide to participate in the sketch challenge this week at ATS&M.  I can't wait to see what you create. Til next time - hugs and happy crafting!

'ABC' Challenges - "Spring is in the Air"

Hello and Happy Monday everyone! Time for another great challenge over at 'ABC' Challenges. This week Lela has chosen a theme challenge for you to participate in - "Spring is in the Air".  We want to see your cards with things you might expect to see in the air - clouds, birds, balloons, butterflies, planes, sunshine, kites... you get the idea, I'm sure :o).  I chose butterflies and clouds as you can see.

My card is a CASE of a card by my amazingly crafty SU Upline Marlene (otherwise known as ET to me).  She came over one day to play and showed us her card and I just  had to make it.  Mine is nearly a copy really - but Marlene's butterfly was flying up instead of across the card and I added the pop of orange (my inside is a tad different as well). The gorgeous swallowtail butterfly is first stamped on newsprint DSP. Then I sponged yellow all over it - and added some orange touches as well.  I kind of wish I had embossed it - wouldn't that have looked stunning? The background is made with the new SU cloud embossing folder with whisper white ink sponged over it.  Last touch on the front was to snip out the butterfly and put in on top. To me it almost looks like it would if you glanced out your window just as a big butterfly paused on its way by. Lots more embossing is on the inside - take a look (this is the card open all the way):
Pretty cool - huh?! Thanks ET for the wonderful idea!  I hope that I've inspired some of you to play along with us this week over at  'ABC' Challenges.  The other lovely DT members have some beautiful cards to inspire you as well - so please go visit them too.

Til next time...hugs and happy crafting! D

52CCT - Color Challenge #15 {Black, Metalic Gold & White}

Hello dear friends and followers - so happy that you are here to visit.  This week over at 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown - 52CCT Color Challenge #15 - the lovely Louise has chosen the very elegant combo of Black, Metallic Gold and White for you to play with.  Here's what I came up with:
Details: Cardstock - Very Vanilla, Basic Black and Brushed Gold
Stamps: Daydream Medallions and Word Play
Ink: Versamark then embossed in black
Other: Floral Frames Framelits, snowflake embossing folder (retired) and basic pearls

I realized after I glued everything down that my card base is actually very vanilla instead of white - oops!! However, I did add lots of lovely white pearls so I met the challenge - whew!

I used the retired snowflake texture embossing folder for the black background.  The medallions are embossed in black ink over brushed gold cardstock.  I colored a few of the pearls black with a sharpie as well for a bit more contract.  Finished card size is 5" square.  I really love how this turned out.  This is the first time I have used the Daydream medallions and I love how it worked for a Christmas theme. Imaging how pretty it will look at a wreath...hmmm, think I'm going to have to try that soon.

Hope you will pop on into 52CCT as see what the rest of the lovely DT members have come up with for your inspiration.  Can't wait to see what you create!  It's off to bed for me tonight - I'm whooped from a long week at work.  Til next time... hugs and happy crafting!

Addicted to Stamps and More - CAS #6 and CAS-ual Fridays 92 - Wallpaper

Hello dear friends and followers - hope you are having a most excellent day.  This week over at Addicted to Stamps and More! we have a CAS challenge for you.  You can use any theme, color or subject but your creation must be Clean and Simple (CAS).  I know that there are lots of you crafty folks who adore CAS cards so this will be a fun challenge for you.

With St. Patty's day right around the corner I pulled out a couple  retired Stampin Up stamp sets for todays card.  My flurry of shamrocks was randomly stamped on my card to create the background - but I still left plenty of white space so that it will qualify as CAS.  I used three different greens for the shamrocks - certainly celery, wild wasabi and gumball green.  I colored this cute stamped image with copic markers (not easy to do with such a small image). Inside it says "Happy St. Patrick's Day" and has a smattering of more shamrocks.

The CAS-ual Fridays challenge #92 is Wallpaper.  That means that you is Stamp Your own Background on your CAS creation.  I think this qualifies for that so I will enter my card there in addition to sharing it with you for ATS&M

The rest of the lovely ladies over at ATS&M have made some awesome creations to share with you so please be sure to go check them out.

Ok, I'll stop jabbering now and let you get to crafting. Thanks so much for visting me today!  Hope to see your creations at ATS&M soon!  Til next time...hugs and happy crafting! D

Inspired by #64 - Dr. Seuss

Hello friends! I spent some time on Sunday cruising through some of my favorite challenge sites.  I haven't had much time of late to participate in challenges other than my DT ones.  But I still like to visit them and gain inspiration.  When I popped into Inspired by though I just knew I had to make time to make a card to enter a card for the Dr. Seuss quotes inspiration challenge.

The two quotes that most inspired me for this card are: 1) "Today you are you that is truer than tue. There's no one alive who is youer than you"! and 2) "Why fit in when you were born to stand out?" (I put this one on the inside).

This card is going to my precious niece in college.  She complains 'cause she doesn't get enough mail so I thought I surprise her. I wish I could see her face when she opens it - she has the most beautiful smile - it literally could light up a room.

Well that's it for me today.  Thanks for coming by to visit me - I'm sure glad that you did. Til next time...hugs and happy crafting! D

'ABC' Challenges - Anything Goes, 4CCC #131 "Stitching", PPA135 - In Stitches

Hello everyone and Happy Monday to you! The challenge this week at 'ABC' Challenges is the ever popular "Anything Goes" - whoot whoot!  That's right, any theme, any sketch, any color combo, any technique - ANYTHING... as long as it's a card because after all that's what ABC stands for All Beautiful Cards.

Inn addition to the Anything Goes purpose for which I have made this card, I am also entering it in the following challenges:
The Paper Players #135 - "In Stitches"
and
4 Crafty Chicks Challenge #131 - You've Got me in {Stitches}

My card uses both real (cross-stitching) and faux stitching.  This is my very first attempt at cross-stitching.  When I bought this little template kit the catalog description didn't say that you should already know how to cross stitch - well, I found out that it's harder than it looks and mine didn't turn out anything at all like the photo on the package (even after two other failed-ripped out attempts).
I added the large die-cut heart and put some faux-stitching around the edge to bring in the cross-stitching.  Was going great until I got distracted by the t.v. and starting putting my stitches too close together - oops!  I thought it still needed something to complete it so I added the gorgeous lace ribbon (helps to distract a bit from my un-even stitching around the heart too I think -lol).  I'm not sure what you would describe this style as - it's not really vintage, it's kind of shabby chic with a country charm to it, hmmm still not sure.  All said and done - I'm not in love with this card - but for a first attempt at cross stitching it's really not too bad and it does have sort of an imperfect charm to it. Hope you like it!

I do hope you will decide to join the challenge this week at 'ABC' Challenges.  The other lovely ladies on the DT have prepared some great cards to share with you so please pop on over and visit them. Start your crafting engines and get to work so you can share your beautiful cards with us this week :o) Check the challenge rules please though as we do limit the number of challenges you can enter to 10 (that is 9 plus ours).   Til next time... hugs and happy crafting!

Missed 'Em Both - ColourQ #178 & Seize The Birthday #8 {Masculine}

Hello!  I fully intended to participate in the ColourQ Challenge #178 (see below) - but found out tonight (3/5) when I went out to see the other entries that I had fogotten to link up to both this challenge and the Seize the Birthday - drat!  That's what I get for doing my post so late at night (rather early morning here). Oh well... hope you enjoy it anyway.  Here's the ColourQ sample:
I saw the inspiration photo and remembered that I had bought this peacock stamp awhile ago and hadn't yet used it.  I used the sketch over at Seize the Birthday #8 for this card as well.  This week at STB is masculine - the colors worked great for that, but I'm not sure how guys really feel about peacocks, but I decided to go for it anyway - lol.

I stamped the peacock using Midnight Muse on Summer Starfruit cardstock.  I tried stamping it first on Pool Party but it didn't turn out at well. I filled in some of the accent spaces with Pool Party (very similar to Cool Caribbean). I was surprised that the Pool Party showed up as well as it did when colored over the summer starfruite cardstock.  There are tiny little dots of Brilliant Blue on the peacock but it isn't terribly obvious, so I brought that color in with the sentiment.

Guess that 's all for me tonight - need to go get my beauty rest as tomorrow is a work day.  Thanks for looking! Til next time...hugs and happy crafting! D

FMS #75, Dynamic Duos #42 {Garden Green & Daffodil Delight}, Sweet Stamping - Embossing & Stamping, My Time to Craft - Embossing

Hello everyone - so happy that you've stopped by to visit me today! My card today is based on the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches (FMS#75)
I'm also entering this card in the the following 3 other challenges:
Dynamic Duos #42 {Garden Green & Daffodil Delight}

Sweet Stamping Challenge - Embossing (& Stamping) and My Time to Craft Challenge #211 - Embossing.

When I saw the color challenge over at Dynamic Duos my mind immediately went to spring flowers and leaves, or St. Patty's day (which is coming up quite soon) - but then I decided I wanted to do something quite different to go with the sketch.  I'm disappointed that the yellow ladies didn't show up better in the photo- IRL they look much better.  Oh well, at least the green really stands out - which is what I was going for ;o).

I used the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder for the main panel (this is one of my favorites to use - so versatile).

Gonna keep this post short and sweet today - so until next time... hugs and happy crafting!! D

52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown - Louise's Sketch #15

Well here it is time again for another great challenge over at 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown and with a new month comes a new hostess - Louise.  Here is my card based on Louise's fab sketch:
Using some more of that fun SU Snow Festival DSP on today's card.  This is the first time I have used the mitten punch that I just had to have from the holiday mini.  I ran it through the Big Shot using the square lattice texture folder to give it the look of a knitted mitten. The ribbon is sweater trim in gumball green - doesn't it look snuggly?  It did make that sentiment panel kind of hard to get on the card though because of the thickness of the ribbon so I used some extra dimensions and popped the whole panel up a bit - have a look.
And here's the inside - I left it mostly blank for more room to write my message and used the other mitten mate on the inside.
So there you have it for this week - I hope you like it!  I'm so proud of myself that I am continuing to keep up with the insides each time.  I haven't yet branched out into doing the envelopes yet - baby steps you know, but I'm considering it :o)  Hope you will decide to join us this week for Louise's sketch challenge over at 52CCT.  Please pop in and visit here to see what the rest of the DT has come up with.  Oh... and we have 3 new DT members starting this week - Deborah, Patricia and Sarah. We are so happy they have joined us!

Thanks so much for visiting me today - I'm sure glad that you did.  Til next time... hugs and happy crafting! D
